HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 91-C1140 0 RESOLUTION NO. 91-C114 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ESTABLISHING A NEW CLASSIFICATION OF JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT AND ESTABLISHING A SALARY THEREFOR. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The class specifications of Junior Accountant are hereby adopted in its entirety in accordance with Exhibit A-1 attached and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2. The classification of Junior Accountant is established at Range 4179, $2,296.26-$2,791.11 per month. APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of August, 1991. /Mayor of the C� of Azusa I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 19th day of August, 1991, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: DANGLEIS, STEMRICH, NARANJO, ALEXANDER, MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE 0 0 CITY OF AZUSA JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT To perform technical and professional accounting work, recording and reporting of financial transactions and budgeting control for assigned funds and City departments; reviews payroll and other fiscal records. SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED Direction is provided by the Accounting Services Supervisor or a other higher level management position. Responsibilities may include supervision of payroll preparation processes. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Participate in the posting, balancing and reconciliation of the general ledger and subsidiary accounts. Assist in monitoring budgets for various City departments and projects determining if funds are available and expenditures properly classified; research and analyze transactions to resolve budget problems; provide analysis of available funds at management request. Preparing work papers, financial statements and various reports for Federal, State and other outside agencies as well as for internal accounting. Learn to prepare fund balance projections. Assist in monitoring and reporting on the status of State and Federal grants; review and audit grant contracts and other documents to ensure grant compliance. Recommend or implement changes in payroll systems and procedures. Assist departmental personnel with budget activity, proper expenditure coding, document preparation and other accounting related activities. Assist in performing comprehensive financial activity studies as directed. Reconcile bank statements. 1 CITY OF AZUSA, JUNK ACCOUNTANT (Continued) • EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Prepare a variety of statements, reports and tax returns from a variety of data and records. Assist in annual budget preparation. Perform related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of• Principles and practices of accounting. Principles of financial administration, including budgeting and reporting. Modern office practices procedures, methods and equipment. Ability to• Examine and verify financial documents and reports. Prepare a variety of financial statements, reports and analyses. Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered on the job. Experience and Education Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Experience• Six months of experience in governmental accounting comparable to that of Accounting Technician in the City of Azusa. Education• Equivalent to an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in accounting or business administration.
