HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 91-C096RESOLUTION NO. 91-C96 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA OPPOSING STATE SENATE BILL 959 -- WATER SUPPLIES THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, SB 959 would impose a surcharge upon urban retail water suppliers to pay for safe drinking water, and fire and wildlife projects; and WHEREAS, SB 959 unfairly taxes the urban water consumers. Rural water users have even greater impact upon water quality and fish and wildlife resources, yet they escape this tax; and WHEREAS, It is not appropriate to levy taxes and then find programs to spend the revenue. Besides, there is no nexus between the tax and many of the programs. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE that the City of Azusa opposes SB 959 in its present form and urges the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee not to adopt it until further hearings are conducted and all inequities of this Bill have been addressed. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of July r 1991. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of July , 1991.
