Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold, City Attorneys and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of August 1st and the Special Session of August 81 1938 were read and approved as read. Im 7:30 P. M. Roll call. Minutes approved. A letter signed by A. W. Fenzel, relative to Communication from the State Relief Administration Project employ- Mr. Fenzel read. ing Class B men to paint street names, paint house numbers on curbs, etc., was read. Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY RESOLUTION NO. OF AZUSA APPROVING AGREEMENT SUBMITTED BY THE 1583 ADOPTED. STATE RELIEF ADMINISTRATION FOR THE PERFORM- ANCE OF CERTAIN PUBLIC WORK BY RELIEF WORKERS. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Carr that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1583. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Dickerson not voting. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Mayor and City Clerk Councilman Carr that the Mayor be authorized authorized to sign to sign "Agreement for Assignment of Relief agreement. ' Workers" and the City Clerk instructed to mail all copies to Mr. Fenzel together with three certified copies of Resolution No. 1583. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Dickerson not voting. Neal Van Sooy requested the use of the Neal Van Sooy and Auditorium on October 5, 6, and 7 and Mr. Nir. Putnam granted Putnam on August 19, 1938. permission to use Auditorium. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Carr that same be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. The City Clerk announced that she had received one bid in answer to "Notice Calling for Bids on the Collection of Garbage." Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that the Bid be now opened, examined and publicly declared. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Bid on removal of Garbage. I hereby agree to collect garbage for City of Azusa August 2, 1938 to June 30, 1939 for $25.00 per month. The days of collection to be Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Mrs. L. L. Russell Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that the bid of Mrs. L. L. Russell be accepted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. A request to operate a draw poker game at 133 W. Foothill Boulevard, offered by Mr. Earl P. Staves, was read. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Dickerson that same be denied. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Dickerson, Strohmeier, Carr, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Strohmeier offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA 14AKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR TWO OR MORE PERSONS TO OBSTRUCT THE SIDEWALKS OR THE STREETS; REGULATING PUBLIC MEETINGS IN PUBLIC STREETS AND PARKS AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE. to be placed upon its second reading.
