The City'Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Roll call. Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold, City Attorney, and City Clerk. The minutes of the last regular meeting of Minutes approved. October 3rd and the Special Session of October 5, 1938 were read and approved as read. Mr. Wm. J. Holden addressed the Council relative Mr. Holden ' to a local plan vdiereby the City may extend addressed Council. the 1937-38 Tax Moratorium for a period of sixty days. 11r. R. B. Bidwell appeared before the Council R. B. A communication, signed by Cornelius Smith, Secretary for the Planning Commission, relative to the planting of trees and beautification of certain streets was read. A request, presented by the Nigg Engineering Corporation to reset the storm drain on the Northwest corner of San Gabriel Avenue and Foothill Boulevard, was offered. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by ' Councilman Jumper that the City Council grant permission to the Nigg Engineering Corporation to reset the storm drain at their own expense and subject to the approval of the City Engineer and Street Superintendent. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mayor Arnold appointed Councilman Jumper Director of the Los Angeles County League of Municipalities. Loved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Owens that the City Council approve the action of the Mayor. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Carl 0. Noid, Sanitary Inspector, reported on property known as 328 Dalton Avenue. No action taken. ' City Engineer Kressly submitted a report on the "so called Wilsford crossing". Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that the Sante Fe officials be notified that the proposal contained in their letter of September 24, 1938 meets with the approval of the City Council, and the City Attorney is directed to notify the Railroad Commission that the City will not oppose the "so called Wilsford crossing" upon the con- dition that the Santa Fe Railway Company carries out the agreement set forth in their letter of September 24, 1938. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. J. C. Muehe presented a request for the privilege of renewing the Insurance Policy covering the fleet. ' Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that J. C. Muehe be in- structed to renew this Policy. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from Owens-Vosburg Insurance Agency relative to the renewal of the Fleet Insurance Policy was read and ordered placed on file for future reference. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Strohmeier that J. C. Muehe be instructed to renew the -Fire Insurance Policy on the Fire Hall. 33- 7:30 P. 14. Request to reset storm drain granted to Nigg Engineering Corp. Councilman Jumper appointed Director of League. No action taken on Health Inspect- or's report. City Clerk in- structed to write Santa Fe Railway Company relative to "Wilsford Crossing." J. C. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Jumper that the Mayor be author- ized and instructed to sign a contract between the City of Azusa and the Calvert Electric Shop for one years supply of Mazda Lamps. Councilman Owens offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO CANCEL ON NOVEMBER 210 1938, CERTAIN WATER CONTRACTS HEREIN NAMED, AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO GIVE NOTICE OF SUCH INTENTION. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Malone that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1590. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE AZUSA IRRIGATING COMPANY TO LAY A STEEL PIPE LINE ON 11TH STREET IN SAID CITY OF AZUSA FROM A POINT NEAR THE INTER- SECTION OF MCKEEVER AVENUE AND 11TH STREET TO THE EAST SIDE OF DALTON AVENUE. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Jumper that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1591. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilmen Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Jumper that the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to advertise for bids to furnish the City of Azusa with Pre -mix, Decomposed Granite,Rock, Sand and Gravel for one year in accordance with specifications on file in the Clerk's Office.
