HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 93-C110RESOLUTION NO. 93-C110 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA SUPPORTING THE JOINT PROPOSAL BY CAL POLY -AND THE HUGHES AIRCRAFT COMPANY CALLING FOR THE CREATION OF AN INTERNATIONAL TECHNOLOGY VENTURE CENTER WHEREAS, a joint proposal by Cal Poly and the Hughes Aircraft Company submitted to the Defense Department's Advance Research Projects Agency program for defense conversion, known as the Technology Reinvestment Project, provides for the creation of an International Technology Venture Center to be located'in a 14.9 acre site of a soon to be vacated missile factory complex, and WHEREAS, this proposal would create a site and program for the redirection of local technology from a military based environment to ,one which would provide displaced defense/aerospace professionals the opportunity to create innovative, job creating, contemporarily marketable businesses in an atmosphere of cutting-edge technology. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Azusa, recognizing that this proposal would bring to our depressed area a fresh new opportunity to provide a vigorously viable economic base not only for the moment but for future generations, does hereby resolve to enthusiastically support this creative attempt by the California State Polytechnic University and the Hughes Aircraft Company, to ameliorate the current state of our local economy. PASSED AND APPROVED this 16th,day of August, 1993. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof held on the 16th day of August, 1993, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: DANGLEIS, MADRID, NARANJO, ALEXANDER, NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE MOSES ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE �Y
