HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 93-C105RESOLUTION 93-C105 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DESIGNATING LABOR DAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 1993, AS "TRY AMERICA DAY," IN THE CITY OF AZUSA WHEREAS, Living in a contemporary environment of unrestricted competition for a market daily growing more constricted, where more and more inroads into our national economy are forcing American Business to make extremely difficult decisions in order just to survive, we are putting ourselves on a suicidal national course which can only lead to the demise of these United States of America, and WHEREAS, We, as a Nation, have two options: we can remain supine and spineless, wallowing in indulgence for indulgence sake, and hollowly bemoan the Past, or take immediate steps to remedy the situation by seeking out American-made products to purchase whenever possible, always remembering that in this way we help ourselves, and WHEREAS, Let us not forget that the American Business taught the world how to merchandise, how to build and how to sell in the 20th Century; we need but to call upon that "Yankee Ingenuity" that made us a world power. Let us, collectively, bet on ourselves by buying what we produce; we shall quickly dispel the doom and gloom of the naysayers who are so ready to count us out NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED By the Council of the City of Azusa, to call upon all the residents of this city, to Try American and then Buy American; and to further call attention to this very critical juncture in our National Life, designates Labor Day, September 6, 1993, as "TRY AMERICAN DAY" in the City of Azusa, in order to once again restore ourselves and our products.
