CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. OCTOBER 18, 1938. 7:30 P. M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular adjourned session at the above time
and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper,
Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold, City
Attorney and City Clerk.
Councilman Strohmeier offered an Ordinance
entitled:
' AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF AZUSA, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF
CALIFORNIA, CONSENTING TO THE ESTABLISHMENT
OF THAT PART OF FIRST STREET WHERE SAID FIRST
STREET, IN THE CITY OF AZUSA, CROSSES LITTLE
DALTON WASH AS A PART OF THE COUNTY SYSTEM
OF HIGHWAYS AND CONSENTING TO THE IMPROVEMENT
THEREOF BY THE COUNTY AS AN EMERGENCY MEASURE
AND MATTER OF URGENCY FOR THE IMMEDIATE
PRESERVATION OF THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH AND
SAFETY.
to be placed upon its first reading.
This Ordinance was then read for the first time.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Jumper that the City Attorneys be
instructed to prepare and present to this
Council a draft of an Ordinance, whether by
amendment to our present tax ordinance or other-
wise, providing that on or before December 31,
1938, any taxpayer may pay his delinquent taxes
and assessments in an amount hereinafter set
forth, on condition that at said time the tax-
payer pays all current taxes which are a lien
on the same property at the time of payment.
The payment of the delinquent taxes and
assessments, heretofore mentioned, shall
consist of an amount equal to all delinquent
taxes and assessments in full plus interest on
the whole amount of delinquent taxes and
assessments at 7p per annum beginning July 1,
1936 to the date of such payment.
The purpose of this motion is to instruct the
City Attorneys to present that type of Ordinance
which until the close of business on December
31, 1938, gives to the taxpayer the right to
pay delinquent taxes and assessments without
penalty and the interest charges prescribed
in Section 3817 of the Political Code, if he
pays such delinquent taxes and assessments in
full plus interest on the entire amount thereof
at 7% from July 1, 1936, and pays in addition
thereto all current taxes and assessments i,:hich
are a lien on the property affected.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-
man Jumper that the City Attorney be instructed
to draw a Notice to be enclosed with all tax
bills, by the Tax Collector, calling attention
to the measure pending before the Council as
to the payment of delinquent taxes.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Loved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Jumper and duly carried that the
Council adjourn to meet again on Thursday,
October 27, 1938 at 8:00 P. M.
