HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 94-C46RESOLUTION NO. 94-C46 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE ENTERING INTO A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT FOR THE CREATION OF A SAN GABRIEL VALLEY COUNCILS OF GOVERNMENTS AND ASSIGNING REPRESENTATIVES THERE TO WHEREAS, In order to facilitate the acquisition of state and federal benefits and provide a more efficient, coordinated method of dealing with regional and local issues, the San Gabriel Valley Association of Cities requested that area cities adopt a Joint Powers Agreement creating the Council of Governments by February 25, 1994, and WHEREAS, At the City Council meeting of February 22, 1994, the matter was discussed at length, leading to agreement that the creation of the San Gabriel Valley Council would be of greater benefit to the City of Azusa than the currently existing San Gabriel Valley Association of Cities, because of its more formal organization which satisfies the stringent requirements of the various State and Federal branches of government. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Azusa, hereby takes action to approve the adoption of a Joint Powers Agreement creating a San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments as proposed by the San Gabriel Valley Association of Cities, authorizes the Mayor to execute the Agreement and designate Councilwoman Madrid as the City of Azusa Representative and Councilman Naranjo as the alternate Representative. APPROVED and ADOPTED this 21st day of MARCH 1994. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of MARCH 1994, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: DNGLEIS, MADRID, NARANGO, ALEXANDER, MOSES NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE CITY CLERK
