The City Council of the City of Azusa met i'n
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Roll call.
Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold, City
Attorney and City Clerk.
The minutes of the last regular meeting of Minutes approved.
October 17th, the adjourned meeting of October
18th and October 27, 1938 were read and
approved as read.
' A request, presented by E & J Manufacturing Demonstration of
Company, to demonstrate the E & J Resuscitator Inhalator to be
and Inhalator, was read, postponed.
It was agreed to take this matter up again
in January.
A communication from Chief Engineer Howell Communication from
relative to fencing at District owned Freight Engineer Howell,
Yard in Azusa, was read and ordered placed ordered placed on

A communication from the State Board of Communication from
Equalization relative to the application for State Board of
"On -Sale Beer" license was read and ordered Equalization read

A communication from the Maryland Casualty
Company relative to the renewal of the Matter of renewal
Liability Policy covering the Light and Water of Liability Policy
Departments, was read, referred to Auditor

be referred to the Auditor for checking.

A communication signed by R. B. Bidwell, Communication from
Attorney for the V. M. Greever Estate, pro- R. B. Bidwell
testing the cancellation of a certain contract relative to can -

ADOPTED.
THEREOF, PROVIDING AN ALTERNATIVE METHOD FOR
THE PAYIHfENT OF DELINQUENT TAXES AND ASSESSMENTS
BY DECEMBER 31, 1938, UPON CERTAIN TERMS AND
CONDITIONS.
to be placed upon its second reading.

Councilman Malone that the Council waive the
second reading of this Ordinance:

Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council-
man Jumper that this Ordinance be adopted as
read and numbered Ordinance No. 339.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC NECESSITY AND
CONVENIENCE REQUIRE THAT VERNON AVENUE, ELEVENTH
STREET, SECOND STREET AND SOLDANO AVENUE, WITHIN
SAID CITY BE IMPROVED FROM FUNDS ALLOCATED BY
LOS ANGELES COUNTY OUT OF ITS SHARE OF MONEYS
COLLECTED FROM THE LEVY OF TAXES ON MOTOR VEHICLE
FUEL AND DISTRIBUTED TO SAID COUNTY BY THE STATE
OF CALIFORNIA FOR THE 1938-1939 FISCAL YEAR.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Jumper that this Resolution be
adopted as read and numbered Resolution No.1592.
Carried by the following vote,of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A petition, with 22 signatures attached thereto,
protesting the erection of a residence on Lot
48, Block 45 for reasons stated in the petition,
was presented.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Owens that the petition together with
the report from the Planning Commission under
date of October 31, also the report of the
Planning Commission of November 3, 19380 be
filed for further consideration.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Building Inspector Fred Frye presented plans
for the remodeling and improvement of the
Standard Oil Service Station.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council-
man Malone that the application of the Standard
Oil Company for remodeling the Service Station
at the Southeast corner of Foothill Boulevard
and San Gabriel Avenue, be approved.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Plans for a dwelling to be erected by Mr.
Mulville were presented by Mr. Adolph Weber.

Councilman Malone that same be approved.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
The Southern Counties Gas Company of California
offered an application for a Gas Franchise
pursuant to the provisions of the Franchise
Act of 1937.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Jumper that the Application be filed
and the City Attorney instructed to prepare a
Resolution of Intention.

Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by City Engineer
Councilman Malone that the City Engineer be instructed to secure
instructed to secure, if possible, easements easements for drain
on certain portions of ground for the purpose age purposes,
of draining the flood waters on Crescent Drive
at no expense to the City of Azusa.

Hardware - Morgan Hardware, Lumber - Williams
Lumber Yard, Paint - Spriggs Hardware,
Restaurant - Gold Nugget, Tires - C. Howard.

Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Arnold that the City of Azusa buy
all electrical supplies wholesale.

Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Owens that the application presented
by George F. Buckman for employment on the
Police Force be referred to the Chief of Police.

Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Jumper that the purchase of uniforms
for the Fire Department be referred to the
Purchasing Committee with power to act.

man Owens that the City Council approve the
appointment, by the League of California
Municipalities of a Field Man and Assistant to
