HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 94-C57RESOLUTION NO. 94-057 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING A UNIT OF THE UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, our American forces are new deployed in Somalia in Africa as part of a humanitarian relief effort called Operation Restore Hope, and WHEREAS, "America Supporting Americans" was created to establish an "adoption" program for every branch land their units) of the United States Armed Services by American City, and WHEREAS, the purpose of "America Supporting Americans" is to bond Americans with the young men and women who serve their country, and WHEREAS, "America Supporting Americans" is a bridge connecting every American that shares at least one common goal putting moral support for the men and women in the armed forces into action, and WHEREAS, mutual love and dedication have contributed greatly to the on-going success of this program and has become the driving force which links us together. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of City of Azusa, California, that: SECTION 1. The City of Azusa California hereby adopts the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, United States Marine Corps. SECTION 2. The City of Azusa hereby urges all community businesses, service clubs, school, and private citizens to become involved and support our men and women in the armed services. SECTION 3. A copy of this Resolution shall be posted in public places in the City and sent to the California League of Cities urging participation in this purposeful cause. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and adoption. APPROVED and ADOPTED thisl8th day of April , 1994. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of April , 1994, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: DANGLEIS, MADRID, NARANJO, MOSES, ALEXANDER NOES: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCILMEMBERS: NONE
