HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 95-C1500 0 RESOLUTION NO. 95-C150 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA REVISING THE CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATIONS FOR PLANNING TECHNICIAN WHEREAS, the City of Azusa Rules of the Civil Service System state that the Human Resources Office is responsible for preparing and maintaining class specifications and that the specifications shall include a list of examples of duties and a statement of qualifications required for appointment. The Rules further state that the Personnel Board shall recommend and the City Council shall adopt amendments or revisions to the class specifications; and WHEREAS, the Personnel Board has reviewed the classification specifications for Planning Technician and recommends approval of the revisions as requested by the Director of Community Development, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY: SECTION 1. Adopt the classifications specifications for Planning Technician as revised in Exhibit "A" attached hereto. ADOPTED AND APPROVED THIS 6th day of November, 1995. MAYOR I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa at a regular meeting thereof on the 6th day of November 1995, by the following vote of the Council; AYES COUNCIL MEMBERS: IIBARDISON, MADRID, NARANJO, BEEBE, ALEXANDER NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS NONE EXHIBIT A Date Adopted: 11-06-95 Class Code: 3347 CITY OF AZUSA PLANNING TECHNICIAN DEFINITION Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks related to gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data; prepares, maintains, and amends a variety of maps; performs related duties as required. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS This is the journey level in the sub -professional planning series. Positions in this class perform advanced drafting, office, and field work which require the application of general planning knowledge to various municipal planning projects. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS These functions may not be present in all positions in this class. When a position is to be filled, the essential functions will be noted in the announcement of position availability. Letters in parenthesis at the end of each function statement represent the abilities required to perform that function. 1. Assists and advises the public in the preparation and filing of applications for zoning changes, variance permits, tentative tract and parcel map approval, site plan and design review, residential development use permits, and other requests for services. Reviews applications for completeness and accuracy; analyzes requests to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policy; writes recommendations for project approval. (a bcdafh1) 3. Prepares or assists in the preparation of staff reports; provides assistance and makes presentations to the Planning Commission. (a c d e f g j k 1) 4. Deals directly with the public and over the phone, responding to inquiries and answering routine questions concerning zoning, land use, the general plan, and current projects. (a b c d e f h 1) 5. Prepares or updates all maps relating to the planning process, including zoning and general plan maps, vicinity maps, and others required by special circumstances; prepares according to specified scales using a variety of drafting equipment. QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES Education and/or Exoerien Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. Example combinations include high school graduation or equivalent, supplemented by college level courses in drafting or planning work with two years of experience in architectural drafting, planning drafting, or legal drafting. Knowledge and Skill Levels Considerable knowledge of cartographic and drafting methods, practices, and techniques; maps and report preparation; general office procedures.
