The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper,
Malore, Owerms, Strohmeier, Arnold, City
Attorney and City Clerk.
The minutes of the last regular meeting of
April 2nd and the Special Meeting of April 10,
1939 were written and mailed to each member of
the City Council and to the City Attorney.
Moved and carried that the minutes be approved
as written.
A communication from the State Board of Equali-
zation informing the City Council of the
decision on protest in the matter of Juan
Morales, was read and ordered placed on file.
A request for a part of the City business was
A request to conduct Tent Meetings in Azusa
was presented by Pastor Beulah Wilson.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Jumper that the matter be referred
to the License Collector and the Planning
Commission with power to act.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A request to use the Auditorium on April 25th
by the Life Retirement Group, was read.
Moved and carried that same be granted pro-
viding there are no conflicting dates.
A request to erect a fire proof building on
property adjoining Lot 19, Block 20, was
offered by Adolph Kasperek.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Owens and duly carried that this
matter be referred to the Planning Commission
and City Attorney to report back at the next
regular meeting of the Council.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A request to re -zone Lot 48 of Subdivision No.
2 Azusa Land and Water Company to permit
chicken ranches, was offered by Mabel Morgan.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Malone and duly carried that this
matter be referred to the Planning Commission.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.

' Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution
entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RESOLUTION NO. 1368
AZUSA PROTESTING ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 1368. adopted.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council-
man Jumper that this Resolution be adopted as
read and numbered Resolution No. 1608.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Mr. Robinson to
Councilman Malone that the City Clerk be instruct Mr. Bierbower
authorized and instructed to request the firm
of Crenshaw, Diehl & Edwards to return to the
City of Azusa the Light and Water Department
ledgers, also to request Mr. Robinson to teach
Mr. S. C. Bierbower, Collector of Light and
Water, the method employed in keeping the led-
gers, with the understanding that Mr. Bierbower
be thoroughly familiar with this work and cap-
able of taking it over July 1, 1939.

Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by City Clerk authorized
Councilman Owens that the City Clerk be to advertise for Bids
authorized and instructed to advertise for on Pre -mix.

Building Inspector Frye and Mr. J. C. Muehe
appeared before the Council relative to the Construction of fence
construction of a fence for the Catholic School. referred to Planning
Commission.
Moved and carried that the matter be referred
to the Planning Commission.
Mr. Roger Dalton, President of the Azusa Roger Dalton requested
Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the Coun- donation for Chamber
cil requesting a donation of five or six of Commerce.

Mr. Dalton stated the Chamber of Commerce
receives hundreds of requests from all parts
of the United States and he was of the opinion
that five or six thousand should be printed
to supply the demand.
Moved and carried that this matter be referred
to the Finance Committee.
Councilman Strohmeier offered and Ordinance
entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ORDINANCE NO. 343
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA ADOPTING adopted.
CERTAIN RULES AND REGULATIONS PERTAINING TO THE
ISSUANCE OF BUILDING PERMITS FOR CERTAIN KINDS AND
TYPES OF STRUCTURES AND FIXING PENALTY FOR VIOLATION.

This Ordinance was then read.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council-
man Jumper that this Ordinance be adopted as
read and numbered Ordinance No, 343.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
City Attorney Tscharner reported he had talked
with Mr. Ott, Auditor for the Los Angeles County
Road Department, who said there could be no change
in the present yard stick in allocating the
Countyts'share of gasoline tax money under the
present set-up. The City of Los Angeles receives
85% on population and 15% on mileage which in ,
his opinion is more than their share. The method
of distribution was fixed by a Resolution of the
Los Angeles County League of Municipalities.
There can be no change in the method of distri-
bution until the present Resolution is rescinded;
that the smaller cities are dissatisfied and
should get together and draft a Resolution
amending the present one.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Malone and duly carried that this
matter be referred to Councilman Jumper and
City Attorney.
It was unanimously agreed that the construction
of the Tennis Court be referred to the Purchas-
ing and Public Works Committees.
Mr. J. C. Muehe appeared before the Council to
report that a survey had been made for Insurance
purpose and he would be in a position to pre-
sent same to Council in the very near future.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Owens that the following requisitions
be allowed: 388 to 405.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Owens that the following bills be
allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the
Treasury for the same.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
