Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Strohmeier. A communication from C. E. Van yeverre was read and ordered placed on file. A communication from the Associated Assessment Engineers and one from C. W. Hyde, Jr., relative to tax delinquent property was read. Mayor Arnold appointed Councilman Owens and Malone, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk to check this matter and report back. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Owens and duly carried the Council approve the action of Mayor Arnold. The City Clerk announced she had received one Bid in answer to Notice calling for bids on a 6 -cylinder tandem roller. r 217 7:30 Y. M. Roll call. Communication filed. Communications read. Committee appointed by Mayor. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Coun- cilman Malone and duly carried that the bid be Bid. now opened, examined and publicly declared. CROOK COMPANY 1 - Model VT -21, 8 ton Buffalo -Springfield Tandem Roller, equipped with six cylinder gasoline engine, complete in every detail, per attached specifications....Price, f.o.b. your yard, Azusa ... $4350. Plus 3% California Sales Tax. Net cash on delivery. 1 - Model VT -21 used 8 ton Buffalo -Springfield Tandem Roller, equipped with six cylinder gasoline engine, complete in every detail, per attached specifications. Carries a new roller guarantee. Price, f.o.b. your yard, Azusa . ... ...........$3400. Plus 3% California Sales Tax. Net cash on delivery. All accrued rentals on the used roller now in your possession will apply on the purchase price of the used tandem roller. Street Superintendent Arthur Wolfe reported the used 8 ton Buffalo -Springfield Tandem Roller in good condition. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Coun- cilman Owens the City Council accept the bid of Crook Company on the Model VT -21 used 8 ton Buffalo -Springfield Tandem Roller now in the Cityts possession, at a price of $3400., plus Sales tax. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: Councilmen Strohmeier. ' Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Malone the Mayor and City Clerk be author- ized and instructed to sign a check in the amount of $3400., plus Sales tax, in payment of tandem roller. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Strohmeier. Street Superintend- ent reported on roller. Bid accepted. Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign check. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Coun- City Clerk author- cilman Owens and duly carried the City Clerk be ized to return authorized and instructed to return the Crook Bid Check. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Jumper and duly carried the Clerk be in- structed to write the City of Glendora, Covina, Monrovia and Arcadia offering for rent the 8 ton Tandem Roller. Councilman Owens offered a Resolution entitled: ' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIM CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA TRANSFERR- ING THE SUM OF TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS (610,000.) FROM THE LIGHT FUND TO THE GENERAL FUND. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Malone that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1615. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Strohmeier. Moved by Councilman Oerens, seconded by Council- man Jumper the City Clerk be instructed to express to Captain Moffitt the Council's appre- ciation for service rendered on June 24, 1939. Carried by the following -vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Strohmeier, Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Jumper the City pay Police Matron Mrs. Nettie Dingman's telephone service, exclusive of long distance calls, beginning July 1, 1939. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Strohmeier. 219 City Clerk instructed to write other cities. RESOLUTION NO. 1615 adopted. City Clerk instructed to write Captain Moffitt. Mrs. Dingman►s phone service to'be paid by City. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Owens the following requisition be allowed: 500. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold. Requisition Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Strohmeier. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Owens the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for same.
