CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. JULY 5, 1939. 7:30 P. M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper,
Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold, City Roll Call
Attorney and City Clerk.
The Mayor announced that the minutes of the
last regular meeting of June 19th and the Minutes Approved
adjourned session of June 26, 1939 were written
and mailed to each member of the Council and
the City Attorney.
It was unanimously agreed there being no
omissions or errors the minutes stand approved
as written.
A communication signed by Cornelius Smith
relative to the request made by Mr. Moore to
erect a garage, was read and ordered placed on
file.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Coun-
cilman Jumper that the Mayor and City Clerk be
authorized and instructed to sign a contract
between the City of Azusa and the Los Angeles
County Health Department.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.'
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A communication, together with a written agree-
ment, relative to Crossing Guards and their
employment, presented by A. H. Tryon, Super-
intendent of Los Angeles County Department of
Crossing Guards, was read.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by
Councilman Strohmeier that this matter be
referred to Chief of Police Williams to sign
and return the agreement to the Los Angeles
County yepartment of Crossing Guards.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A communication from Jerome E. Brown of the
Brown School for Girls relative to fire pro-
tection, was read.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Malcme the City Clerk be instructed
to write Mr. Brown the City of Azusa will
respond to fire alarms from the Brown School'
with one truck and equipment providing he file
with the Clerk a written statement agreeing to
pay $50.00 per call, -and on further condition
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Wm. Zerell, Superintendent of Light and Water
Departments reported that the swimming pool,
the reservoir and Pump #3 have been completely
fenced. The Line Construction Superintendent
having supervised the work.
He also reported the completion of the Water
Main Project on 6th Street and the placing of
a fire hydrant for protection of the American
Cyanamid and Chemical Corporation on 11th
Street.

Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
Councilman Owens that upon recommendation of the
Street Superintendent, John Hibsch and S. G.
Cleveland be placed under Resolutions No. 1540
and 1595, beginning July 1; 1939.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens,
Strohmeier, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
