Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Roll call. Malone, Owens, Arnold, City Attorney and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Strohmeier. The Mayor announced that the minutes of the last Minutes approved. regular meeting of July 17, 1939 were written and mailed to each member of the City Council ' and the City Attorney. There being no errors or omissions the minutes were unanimously approved as written. A communication from the City Clerk of Pomona City of Pomona requesting the City's permission to hang a granted permission banner across the Boulevard, advertising the to hang banner. Los Angeles County Fair, was read. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Jumper that this request be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Strohmeier, A communication from the Pacific Rock & Gravel Quotation on pre - Company, quoting prices on pre -mix, was read. mix read and It was unanimously agreed that same be placed ordered placed on file, on file. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Coun- cilman Malone that the minutes of a meeting of the Police and Fire Committee held July 27, 1939 be hereby ratified, confirmed and ordered placed on file. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Owens that Councilman Strohmeier be excused from attending the meeting of the City Council held August 7, 1939. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Malone and duly carried that the following requisitions be allowed: 528-552.
