HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - September 5, 1939 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. SEPTEMBER 5, 1939. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold, City Attorney and City Clerk. The minutes'of the last regular meeting of August 21, 1939 were written and mailed to each member of the City Council and to the City Attorney. ' It was unanimously agreed there being no errors or omissions the minutes will stand approved as written. A representative of the Brown -Bevis Equipment Company appeared before the City Council and requested permission to demonstrate a street sweeper. It was agreed the Council would witness this demonstration on Thursday.. September 7, 1939 at 9:30 A. M. A request for electric wiring of residence at #817 Azusa Avenue was made by Mabel Morgan. -moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Jumper that same be granted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. 7:30 P. M.251 Roll call. Minutes approved. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Owens that the City purchase the roofing material from Williams Lumber Yard and the City Clerk be instructed to return checks to unsuccessful bidders. Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, LEVYING TAXES AND FIXING THE TAX RATE OF ALL PROPERTY IN SAID CITY FOR ALL MUNICIPAL PUR- POSES AND TO PAY THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS AND ' INTEREST ON THE SAME FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1939-1940. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Malone that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1625. Carried by -the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, IAS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED AND NINTY-FOUR DOLLARS AND NINTY-SEVEN CENTS ($2,594.97) FROM THE 1915 ACT DEFICIENCY ASSESSMENT FUND TO THE SERIES ACCOUNT. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Jumper that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1626. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Jumper that the City Treasurer be authorized and directed to renew Contract covering City Deposits, with the First National Bank of Azusa for,one,year, beginning -- September 22, 1939 to _ September 22, 1940.
