RESOLUTION NO. 96—C26
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA
WAIVING FORMAL SEALED BIDDING AND AUTHORIZING THE
CONSIGNMENT OF SIX SURPLUS CITY VEHICLES TO THE
NATIONWIDE AUCTION COMPANY FOR THE SALE OF THESE
VEHICLES BY PUBLIC AUCTION
WHEREAS, Section 2-517 of the Azusa Municipal Code grants the Purchasing Officer
authority to sell City equipment that has become unsuitable for City use, and
WHEREAS, Section 2-537 of the Azusa Municipal Code requires City equipment sales
over the amount of $5,000 to be awarded to the highest responsible bidder, and
WHEREAS, Section 2-536 of the Azusa Municipal Code allows the City Council to waive
formal "sealed" bidding upon finding that the public welfare would be promoted by dispensing with
them, and
WHEREAS, by sending these vehicles to Nationwide Auction Company the City will have
clearly complied with the intent of Section 2-536 of the Azusa Municipal Code,
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES
HEREBY FIND AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the formal "sealed" bidding process is waived.
Section 2. Nationwide's public auction gives all potential buyers an equal opportunity for
competitive bidding.
Section 3. Authorize the Purchasing Officer to send the six surplus City vehicles to
Nationwide Auction Company to be sold by public auction.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of March, 1996.
