MINUTES OF THE -CITY COUNCIL MEETING.
279
NOVEMBER 6, 1939. 7:30 P. M.
Councilman Jumper reported on an interview
with Mr. Cortelyou, State Road Commissioner,
relative to the contemplated Under pass where
the Santa Fe Railroad crosses Foothill Boulev-
ard in the City of Azusa.
Mr. Jumper stated he saw only profiles and cross
sections of the work contemplated by the State
of California, also that he met with the members
of the City Council, the City Attorney and Mr.
Cortelyou at a later date to discuss the matter
further. He came to the conclusion, based on
the expression of the Railroad Commission, the
Santa Fe Railroad Company,Federal_Government
Bureau of Public Roads, the State Highway
Commission and others that the intention was
to raise the railroad grade on Foothill Boule-
vard calling for a fill of 13.6 and a dep-
ression of road grade of 5 feet at this point,
which would meet the present road 50 or 60 feet
west of the junction of Santa Fe and Foothill
Boulevard and would meet the present grade on
the east side of the tracks at West curb line
of Orange Avenue. In his opinion no steps could
be taken by the Council to change the tentative
plans drawn by the State Engineers for this
project.
Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by
