HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 96-C1790 RESOLUTION NO. 96-C179 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING OPTIONS SEVEN AND FOUR OF THE DOWNTOWN CIRCULATION PLAN ALTERNATIVES WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Azusa conducted a Town hall meeting on October 28, 1996, and WHEREAS, Staff presented eight circulation alternatives to accommodate traffic flow, and to assist in the creation of a pedestrian -friendly downtown environment, and WHEREAS, Staff presented evidence and information concluding that the optimum solution for the greatest chance of success for a traditional downtown is a two-way street pattern, and WHEREAS, substantial and valuable public comments were received at meeting, and WHEREAS, the City Council carefully considered all options presented, as well as the public comments received, NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Azusa does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION 1: Option Seven, the Basic Plan, characterized by two north -bound lanes on Azusa Ave. from Fifth St. to Ninth St. is hereby selected and approved in concept, to be implemented on an immediate basis. SECTION 2: Option Four, the Optimal Plan, characterized by two-way traffic on both Azusa Ave. and San Gabriel Ave. shall be explored further for financial and practical feasibility within the next six months, utilizing resident and property owner participation. SECTION 3: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. PASSED, APPROVED, AND ADOPTED this 18th day of November, 1996.
