HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - December 18, 1939 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. DECEMBER 18, 1939. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold, City Attorney and City Clerk. Each member present having acknowledged receipt of a copy of the minutes of the regular meet- ing of December 4, 19399 the Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none the minutes of the regular meeting of December 4, 1939 were unanimously approved. Notices of Annual Meetingsof the Azusa Agri- cultural Water Company and Azusa Citrus Assoc- iation, were read. Moved and unanimously carried that the Mayor appoint Councilman Malone to represent the City of Azusa at both the meeting of the Azusa Agricultural Water Company and the Azusa Citrus Association. An application for employment with the police Department, offered by Stuart A. Neale, was read. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded man Strohmeier and duly carried that placed on file for future reference. d by the Los Angeles Count by Council - same be A Resolution adoptey Board of Supervisors authorizing an appropria- tion of $3,826.41 for the improvement of Second Street, et. al., within the City of Azusa was read and ordered placed on file. Strohmeier, seconded by Moved by Councilman Councilman Malone that the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to advertise for bids on 5,000 tons, more or less, of pre -mix, to be opened Tuesday, January 2, 1940. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Strohmeier offered a Resolution CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE OF AZUSA APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FO NT GAS TAX ALLOCATED FOR R EXPENDITURE OF J CE STATE HIGHWAYS. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Malone that this Resolution be adopted as esolution No. 1636. read and numbered R Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Strohmeier, seconded by Moved by Councilman Councilman Malone the License Collector,Pau1 E. Smith be instructed to issue a business license to Joe D. Aguirre at 429 Dalton Avenue if and when the Flanning Commission approve the location of the business. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Purchase of shrubs Councilman Jumper the matter of planting trees, referred to shrubs and flowers in the north Civic Center Committee. Park be referred to Councilman Malone and Owens, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. It was unanimously agreed the Clerk notify, Clerk to notify in writing, all Department heads to make out Department heads. and approve all statements on purchases for their respective departments. Moved by Councilman Strohmeier, seconded by Councilman Jumper the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Malone that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1637.
