The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
Special Session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Roll call.
Malone, Owens, Strohmeier, Arnold, City Attorney
Miller and City Clerk.
The following Notice was read.
We, the undersigned members of the Azusa City Council do hereby
give consent to the holding of a Special Meeting of said Council in
the Council Chambers of said City at the hour of 8:00 A. M. on the
11th day of January, 1940 for the purpose of acting upon the
resignation of Councilman Rex Strobmeier and appointing the success-
or to fill the vacancy in the event said resignation be accepted
and the transaction of any other business that may rightfully come
before the Council.

Mayor Arnold expressed to Councilman Strohmeier
the City Council's regret and enumerated the
various City Projects completed under Councilman
Strohneier's guidance, mentioning his faithful
devotion to the up -building of the City and
finished his remarks with an expression of
sorrow, offering best wishes for Councilman
Strohmeier's future.
Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council-
man Malone and duly carried the City Clerk be
Instructed to write Councilman Strohmeier
expressing the Council's regret.
Moved by Councilman Malone. -seconded by Council-
man Jumper the Council accept Councilman
Strohmeier's resignation with regret.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Mr. Strohmeier expressed his appreciation of
cooperation given him, during the three and one
half years he had served the City, by members
of Council, City Officials and Department Heads,
stating that it was a pleasure to serve and
while he regretted leaving the Council, he felt
the present City Council's program had been
completed and his own business required all of
his attention.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Coun-
cilman Jumper that Phyllis Clair Bradshaw be
appointed to fill the vacancy caused through
the resignation of Rex Strohmsier.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Owens, Arnold.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.

Due to lack of a quorum the meeting was adjourned Meeting adjourned

meetings were unanimously approved.

Insurance Fund denying further responsibility in ordered placed

EMPLOYING WILLIAM F. ZERELL AS PUMP MAN AND P
REVOKING THE APPOINTMENT AND EMPLOYMENT OF
THE SAID WILLIAM F. ZERELL AS SUPERINTENDENT
OF THE LIGHT AND WATER DEPARTMENT OF SAID CITY.
Moved by Mayor Arnold, seconded by Councilman
Owens that this Resolution be adopted as read
and numbered Resolution No. 1639.

REPEALING CONTRARY PROVISIONS OF PRIOR RESO-
LUTIONS.

TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUN- 1641 adopted.

TO THE PARK IMPROVEMENT FUND.

TO THE WATER BOND FUND 1901, FOUR HUNDRED AND
FIFTY DOLLARS ($450.00) TO THE WATER BOND FUND
1906 AND SIXTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS (1600.00) TO
THE WATER BOND FU14D 1914, ALSO TRANSFERRING
NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($900.00) FROM THE LIGHT

Mayor Arnold appointed a Committee of three,
namely, Councilmen Owens, Bradshaw and Malone
to check this matter and report back at the
next regular meeting of the Council.
