CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. FEBRUARY 20, 1940.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular adjourned session at the above time and
place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper,
Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold, City Attorney
and City Clerk.
The following letters were read:

Gentlemen:

Roll call.
In compliance with your request, I have estimated the
cost at which the work of excavation and construction of pre -mix
pavement on certain portions of Second St., Third St., Fourth
St, and Soldano Ave, could be done, using the City's crew and
equipment, as follows:
Per grading, including excavation and filling,
shaping, and rolling subgrade and shoulders
of earth where required, 73,800 sq. ft. L 369.00
For asphaltic concrete (pre -mix) pavement, laid
complete, 1330 tons L $1.65 ......................$x2,194.50
Total estimated cost .................. $22563.50

I have checked over the above estimates and it is my opinion.
based upon costs of several similar jobs, that the Street Depart-
ment under the supervision of the Street Superintendent can
perform the work mentioned at the prices given and for the total
amount stated.

City Engineer Paul E. Kressly appeared before the City Engineer1c
Council and recommended that all bids opened on report sa d
February 19, 1940 for work contemplated on Second, recommendation.
Third, and Fourth,Streets and Soldano Avenue be
rejected and the materials purchased in the open
market, that work be done under the supervision of
the Street Superintendent, using City owned equipment.
Councilman Owens offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA REJECTING ALL BIDS RECEIVED FEBRUARY 19,1940 RESOLUTION NO.
FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF CERTAIN PORTIONS OF SECOND 1647 adopted.
STREET, THIRD STREET, FOURTH STREET, AND SOLDANO
AVENUE WITHIN SAID CITY, AND DECLARING THAT THE
WORK CAN BE PERFORMED MORE ECONOMICALLY BY DAY
LABOR AND P.I TH THE CITY'S EQUIPMENT UNDER THE
SUPERVISION OF THE SUPERINTENDENT OF STREETS.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw this Resolution be adopted as read
and numbered Resolution No. 1647.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw,
Owens, Arnold.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Moved by Councilman Jumper seconded by Councilman Adjournment.
Bradshaw and duly carried the Council adjourn.
