The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Each member present having acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of February 19th and the adjourned meeting ' of February 20th, 19400 the Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of February 19th and the adjourned meeting of February 20th were unanimously approved as written. A request, offered by Mr. Clark, for the use of the Auditorium on the fourteenth' of each month was read. It was unanimously agreed that Mr. Clark make written request each month for use of the Audi- torium. A communication from S. D. Stephens requesting the office of foreman of the Sewage Treatment Plant, was read and ordered placed on file. A communication from Cornelius Smith, relative to adding the words "Crystal Lake Park" to the Neon Sign now located on the corner of Holt and Azusa Avenues, was read. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Jumper this matter be referred to the Board ' of Public Works, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Communications from Cornelius Smith relative to the matters referred to the Planning Commission were read and ordered placed on file. Roll call. Uinutes approved. Mr. Clark's request refused. Application ordered placed on file. Matter of chang- ing Neon Sign referred to Board of Public Works. Communication ordered placed on file. Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ACCEPTING $40 FROM LOS ANGELES COUNTY FOR RESOLUTION NO. THE MAINTENANCE OF CERTAIN PUBLIC STREETS THROUGH 1648 adopted. THE CONTROL AND ERADICATION OF PUNCTURE VINE. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Jumper that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1648. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. ' A request made by the Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, was read. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw that this matter be referred to the License Collector. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. A bid on pre -mix, offered by the Asphalt Paving Company, was read and ordered placed on file. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Jumpjr the matter of securing an easement for a pipe line be referred to the Board of Public Works to act with the Superintendent of Light and Water and City Attorney, and to report back. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. ' Noes: None. Absent: None. An application made to the State Board of Equalization by John R. Parr for liquor license, was read and no action taken. City Attorney Miller reported that he contacted Curtis Smith on the matter of Tax deeded properties and that any action in the matter would take a long time as the committee handling this felt that action can be more readily taken in less populated areas, however Los Angeles County has so many tax problems that it will take some time to work out a satisfactory method. Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUKTY, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING A COMMITTEE TO ACT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY, AND UNDER THE DIRECTION OF COUNCIL, IN THE MATTER OF THE SALE OR OTHEY MPOSITION OF TAX DELINQUENT LANDS. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1649. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Malone that the following requisitions be allowed: 726 - 733 Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Malone the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
