RESOLUTION NO. 98—C9
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
CALIFORNIA WAIVING FORMAL SEALED BIDDING AND AUTHORIZING THE
ISSUANCE OF A PURCHASE ORDER FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$11,850.00, PLUS TAX FOR PURCHASE OF 1000 FEET OF 12"X18' CLASS 350
TYTON JOINT WATER MAIN LINE TO PACIFIC STATES CAST IRON PIPE
COMPANY.
WHEREAS, the State public works project law requires City purchases over the amount
of $5,000 to be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder after notice, and
WHEREAS, the State law allows the City Council to waive formal sealed bidding upon
finding that a sudden unexpected event has created a danger to life or property and that a project
must be commenced immediately to protect the public health and safety promoted by dispensing
with them, and
WHEREAS, the City has solicited written quotations from vendors.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA,
CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY FIND AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the formal "sealed" bidding process is waived, and
Section 2. That a Purchase Order, not to exceed $11,850.00, plus tax, be issued to Pacific
States Cast Iron Pipe Company, for the purchase of 1000' of 12"x18' Class 350 Tyton Joint
Water Main, and
Section 3. That this project is deemed to be an emergency project because the need to
replace the pipe was an unanticipated event and the pipe must be repaired without delay 'in order to
deliver potable water to residents.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the.City
Council of the City of Azusa, at a regular meeting thereof held on the 20th day of January, 1998.
