Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Each member present having acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of March 4th and the regular adjourned session of March 11, 1940, the Mayor asked if ' there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of the regular meeting•of March 4th and the regular adjourned session of March 11, 1940 were unani- mously approved as written. 371 7:30 P. M. Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA AWARDING CONTRACTS FOR FURNISHING CERTAIN MATERIALS, MACHINERY, EQUIPMENT, AND APPURTENANCES IN CONNECTION WITH THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT, AND MAIN AND LATERAL SEWERS AND REJECTING BIDS SUBMITTtO ON SEVERAL OF SUCH ITEMS. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1650. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. The matter of the Mid -year League Convention to be held at Fresno, March 28, 1940, was discussed. ' Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Malone that Councilman Jumper be appointed to represent the Council at this convention and the Mayor and City Clerk authorized to sign a check for his expenses in the amount of $60.00. Carried by the following vote of the Council; Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone,' Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. The request of the Life Payment Group to use the Auditorium on April 11, 1940 was read. It was unanimously agreed that same be granted providing there are no conflicting dates. Mrs. Brubaker requested the Council to improve Paramount Avenue. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw this matter be referred to the Chairman of Public Works to report back. Carried by the following vote of the Council: ' Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. The Petrol Corporation submitted a bid on gasoline for all or any part of the City gas- oline requirements. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Coun- cilman Bradshaw that the Mayor be authorized to sign same. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Roll call. Minutes approved. RESOLUTION NO. 1650 adopted. Councilman Jumper to represent City at convention. Request to use Auditorium granted. Matter of improve ment of Paramount Ave. referred to Chairman of Public Works. M. 373 Councilman:Malone offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISH- RESOLUTION NO. ING THE SUM OF FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($50,000.00) 1651 adopted. FOR THE 1940 SEWER CONSTRUCTION FUND. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Coun- cilman Jumper that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1651. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Owens offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, TRANS- FERRING THE SUM OF FORTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($402000.00) FROM VARIOUS FUNDS TO THE 1940 SEWER CONSTRUCTION FUND. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1652. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A GRANT FROM ROBERT S. WOODS AND FLORENCE B. WOODS, OF RIGHT-OF-WAY. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1653. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT AS OF MARCH 150 1940, LIMITING THE WIDTH OF THE RIGHT-OF-WAY GRANTED AS OF THAT DATE BY ROBERT S. AND FLORENCE B. WOODS AND DIRECTING THAT SAME BE RECORDED. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman Owens that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1654. DATED MARCH 11, 1940, AND AUTHORIZING RESOLUTION NO. SANTE TO BE RECORDED. 1655 adopted. Howard Virgil Smith, Superintendent of Light and Water Departments reported progress made,on the exten- sion of a water line to First Street. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Owens the following requisitions be allowed: 734 to 736 and 770 to 7.74. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, Arnold. Noes: None.. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Coun- cilman Owens the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
