The packet contains basic program information as well as an update on our office's recent activities. As you will notice, bur joint project has been listed as one of our office's 1998 projects in the one-page update sheet. Weare currently developing our slate of new and continuing projects for the next fiscal year beginning October I. Due to a high demand for our assistance, we ask our continuing cooperators to discuss project needs with your RTCA staff person and to annually submit a request for continuing assistance. We are asking that applications for new projects be submitted by July 1 and applications for continuing projects be submitted by August 7. Please be as specific as possible about both the type of assistance and the time commitment you anticipate from the RTCA program to complete project goals in the coming year. As you know, the purpose of the Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program is to empower local communities to achieve their own conservation goals. While we anticipate involvement in some of our current projects for another year, we are likely to conclude others. We sometimes provide shorter term consultation services throughout the year depending on needs and staffing availability.
