A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA URGING
ALLOCATION OF ADDITIONAL RESOURCES FOR THE REDUCTION OF
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF LOCAL
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COURTS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY
WHEREAS, domestic violence is a major cause of family trauma throughout the County and State, and
WHEREAS, reducing domestic violence requires a concerted effort by entities in and out of government,
and
WHEREAS, the role the legal system plays in such efforts requires actions by all levels of government,
including funding and the provision of other resources by state government, county government, and local
government.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Azusa that:
(a) We hereby renew our emphasis upon the high priority domestic violence occupies in our city's law
enforcement activities, and
(b) We hereby state our desire to see domestic violence diminish, and
(c) We recognize the impact domestic violence has on the lives of families and children in our communities
in both Los Angeles county and throughout the state, and
(d) We hereby petition our state government, County and judicial representatives - to seek the necessary
resources and funding for more courts, specifically dedicated to courts handling domestic violence cases throughout
this county and adjoining counties, and
(e) We ask the Citrus Municipal Courts, upon receipt of additional judicial resources, to restore its domestic
violence court, and
(f) We respectfully recommend that County and State officials work to implement these same actions for
all Los Angeles County Courts as domestic violence exists throughout the entire state.
