Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, - Roll call. Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens, City Attorney and City Clerk. placed on file. Each member present having acknowledged receipt Minutes approved. of a written copy of the minutes of the last regular meeting of June 17, 1940, the Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections on file. to said minutes. There being none, the minutes ' of the regular meeting of June 17, 1940 were unanimously approved as written. entitled: A oommunication from Mr. W. J. Thomson request- ing information relative to bidding on tax Communication delinquent properties was read. referred to Mr. 1670 adopted. Greig. Moved and carried that same be referred to Mr. Greig. POLICE OF SAID CITY OF HARRY CHESTER AS Communications from Mrs. Phillips, dors. Perkins Communications and Mrs. Kinne were read and ordered placed on ordered placed on file. file. A request for transfer of liquor license from No action on Jennie Montoya to Manuel Torres was read and liquor application no'action'taken. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No.1670. Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled:• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY RESOLUTION NO. OF AZUSA GRANTING TO THE SUPERINTENDENTS OF 1671 adopted. THE LIGHT AND WATER DEPARTMENT, POLICE DEPART- MENT, STREET DEPARTMENT AND THE HEADS OF ALL THE SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY, CERTAIN CONTROL OVER EMPLOYEES IN SUCH DEPARTMENTS. Moved by Councilman Jumper seconded by Coun- cilman Bradshaw that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1671. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None, Absent: None, MrGreig of the Assessment Engineers Associ- Mr. Greig ation addressed the Council relative to the addressed Council. 1915 Street Improvement Bonds. , A letter from the City Treasurer was introduced. Moved and carried that same be placed on file. A copy of a_report submitted by the Title Report ordered Insurance and Trust Company on Trust #P-9557 placed on file. covering the period December 16, 1939 to June 16, 1940, was presented and ordered placed on file. Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution ' entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY RESOLUTION NO. OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, 1670 adopted. APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE CHIEF OF POLICE OF SAID CITY OF HARRY CHESTER AS DEPUTY PULiCE FOR THE PERPOSE OF COLLECTING DELINQUENT DOG TAXES AND FIXING HIS COMMISSION. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw that this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No.1670. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved and carried that same be placed on file. 6RAGY _ MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING. JULY 1, 1940. 7:30 P.M. Councilman Jumper reported on a meeting with Mr. Cortelyou, Mr. Kenzie and Right -of -Way men, of the State Highway -Department relative to the grade separation on Foothill Boulevard, stating that the project would not be started for at least three months and would take eight months to complete at a cost of $275,000. He also stated that the only cost to be borne by the City of Azusa was the lowering of water pipe linea. ' Mr. Perry Morris appeared before the Council requesting a donation for the Daily vacation Bible School. No action taken. Councilman Bradshaw reported on the Lee School recreation park. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Arnold the following requisitions be allowed: 846-849, 884-889. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Councilman Arnold the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
