Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Roll call. Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens, City Attorney and City Clerk. Each member present having acknowledged receipt Minutes approved. of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of July 15, 1940, the Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes ' of the regular meeting of July 15, 1940 were unanimously approved as written. A communication addressed to the Council, Correspondence signed by C. T. Gilliam, was read and referred referred to City to the City Attorney. Attorney. A report from the Local Planning Commission Report of Planning relative to the re -naming of Foothill Commission accept - Boulevard, was read. ed and ordered placed on file. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Malone this report be accepted and placed on file. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from the Los Angeles County Puncture vine Deputy Agricultural Commissioner relative to controll referred puncture vine control, was read. to Board of Public Works. ' Moved and carried that same be referred to the Board of Public Works. A communication relative to the public hear- ing on proposed "Master Plan of Airports", was read. Councilman Jumper and Secretary It was unanimously agreed that Councilman C. Smith appointed Jumper and Secretary of Chamber of Commerce Committee of Two Cornelius Smith attend same. to represent City at hearing. A communication from the secretary of the Chamber of Co -coerce relative to the violations Violations on hand of the hand bill ordinance, was read, bill ordinance referred to Police Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Committee to repor Councilman Jumper this matter be referred to back. the Police Commission to report back. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None.. The matter of renewing the fire insurance Fire Insurance policy on the old well house located on the Policy cancelled. West 70 feet of Lot 4, Tract 627, City of Azusa, was discussed. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Jumper the Mayor and City Clerk be instructed to advise Mr. Muehe the Council. wish to discontinue policy No. S 505645. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council rescind Councilman Malone the Council rescind all all former action former action relative to fire protection relative to Fire for private and public schools outside the Protection for City limits of Azusa. Mr. Clifford Rucker appeared before the Council Mr. Rucker and requested the City replace the hedge which appeared before had been accidentally burned by City employees, the Council. or pay damages. No action taken. Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitledr A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS -ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, RESOLUTION NO. AMENDING RESOLUTION #1675 AND ELIMINATING 1675 adopted. CERTAIN PARTS THEREOF. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1677. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw. Noes p Councilmen: Arnold, Owens. Absent: None. ' It was unanimously agreed that Ira Calvert be made responsible for the Public Address System. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Painting of Band Councilman Bradshaw the painting of the Band Shell referred to Shell be referred to the Board of Public Board of Public Works, with power to act. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by , Councilman Malone the Mayor and City Clerk be Mayor and City instructed and authorized to sign a Rental Clerk instructed Agreement between the City of Azusa and Crook and authorized Company for a Model 10-B Bucyues-Erie Drag to sign Rental Shovel Comb. 40-10 complete. ' Councilman Owens offered a Resolution entitled:, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING APPLICATION FOR A WORKS PROGRESS ADMINISTRATION PROJECT PROPOSAL, SPONSOR'S RESOLUTION NO. CERTIFICATE AND AGREEMENT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION 1676 adopted. OF SANITARY SEWER FACILITIES. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1676.
