HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 00-C1050 RESOLUTION NO. 00—C105 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING A NOMINATION STATEMENT FOR POTENTIAL HISTORIC LANDMARKS AND THEIR DESIGNATION AS POTENTIAL HISTORIC LANDMARKS WHEREAS, the Cultural and Historical Landmark Commission (hereinafter "Commission") of the City of Azusa has studied, analyzed, and surveyed various properties within the City that are worthy of preservation, and WHEREAS, the Commission, in reviewing the aforementioned properties, has used specific criteria in nominating the properties described in the attached Exhibit A for Potential Historic Landmark status, and WHEREAS, the Commission has conducted a public hearing on July 18, 2000, and has recommended to the City Council adoption of the proposed List of Potential Historic Landmarks, and NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Azusa does hereby resolve as follows: SECTION 1: Pursuant to the State CEQA Guidelines, a Negative Declaration has been prepared and reviewed, finding that the proposed project could not have a significant effect on the environment. The City Council hereby certifies said Negative Declaration, with the provision that the mitigation measures, if any, recommended in the Initial Study, are implemented. SECTION 2: The City Council hereby determines that the properties described in Exhibit A meet at least one of the following criteria: 1.) Is at least 50 yrs old, 2.) Is identified with significant persons or events, 3.) Is representative of a notable builder, designer, or architect, 4.) Contributes to a significant area, 5.) Embodies distinctive characteristics of style, type, period design, or craftsmanship, 6.) Incorporates elements that help preserve and protect a historic place or area of historic interest, 7.) Has yielded information important in prehistory or history, SECTION 3: The City Council has carefully considered all pertinent testimony and the staff report offered regarding this matter presented at the public hearing. The properties described in the attached Exhibit A are hereby designated as Potential Historic Landmarks, and are subject to the provisions of the Preservation ordinance adopted dayofOctober ,2000. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Azusa, at a regular meeting thereof, held on the 2nd day of October, 2000, by the following vote of the Council: AYES: COUNCILMEMBERS: HARDISON, STANFORD, ROCHA, BEEBE, MADRID NOES: COUNCIL MEMBERS: NONE ABSENT: COUNCIL MEMBERS: NONE AB§TA0: n COUNCIL MEMBERS'.
