HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 00-C1470 0 RESOLUTION 00—C147 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING A GRANT APPLICATION FOR "TRAFFIC SIGNAL RED LIGHT REPLACEMENT PROJECT" TO BE SUBMITTED TO THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION WHEREAS, the California Energy Commission provides grants to finance energy efficiency projects that will reduce peak electricity demand; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The City of Azusa is authorized to apply for an energy efficiency grant from the California Energy Commission to implement Traffic Signal Red Light Replacement Project. SECTION 2. Upon Azusa application being recommended for funding by the California Energy Commission, The City of Azusa is authorized to accept a grant up to $29,060. SECTION 3. In accepting the grant, the City of Azusa agrees to plan for the future replacement of the funded measures with units equal or better efficiency. SECTION 4. The City Manager is authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of Azusa all necessary documents to implement and carry out the purpose of this Resolution, and to undertake all actions necessary top complete the energy efficiency project. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the Adoption of this Resolution. ADOPTED this 18" day of December, 2000. PROJECT DESCAIPTION ----- ------ a. Describe your project. Indicate the traffic signal modules to be converted to LEDs, the total number of affected intersections and the specifications (i.e., Caltrans or ITE) you plan to use. We are planning on converting all the existing incandescent red lights to LED lights. We will use CalTrans specifications and 36 intersections will be effected by this project. b. If your current plans are to install incandescent traffic signals on some intersections and you are requesting grant funds to replace the incandescent with LEDs, please indicate the number of affected intersections and the types of LEDs that will be installed. We are planning ton replacing the existing reds with LED lights. c. Describe your LED installation plans, such as use of contracted or in-house labor. If using in-house labor, indicate whether the installation will occur as part of your regular workday or outside of your workday (e.g., overtime). A CalTrans approved contractor will be used to install the lights. d. Indicate project start date: March 2001 (assume two weeks after grant application submittal) Indicate project completion date: April 2001 (no later than June 1, 2001) 0 0 3. PROJECT BUDGET AND FUNDING REQUEST a. From Exhibit B, indicate: Grant Amount Requested: $29,060.00 Total Project Cost (Grant Amount and Your Cost): $37,922.00 b. The Commission's grant will pay for part of the material and installation costs for installing LED traffic signal modules. How will you fund the remaining portion of your project cost?
