HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - November 18, 1940 - CCCITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. NOVEMBER 18, 1940. 7:30 P.M. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll calls Councilmen; Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Each member present having acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of November 4th, 1940, the Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of the regular meeting of November 4th, 1940 were unanimously approved as written. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Coun- cilman Malone that the action of the City Council taken on November 6, 1940 ordering the City Clerk to advertise for Bids on vitrified clay pipe, to be opened on November 18, 1940, be hereby ratified, confirmed and approved. Carried by the following vote of the Councils Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. The City Clerk announced that she had received three bids in answer to Notice calling for bids on vitrified clay pipe. Roll call. Minutes approved. Action of City Council ratified. Bids Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Coun- cilman Bradshaw the Bids be now opened, examined and publicly declared. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Coun- cilman Jumper the bids be referred to the City Engineer for checking. Kressly reported that Gladding, McBean & Company were the lowest responsible bidder. Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RESOLUTION NO. AZUSA AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING 1687 adopted. CERTAIN MATERIALS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SEWAGE COLLECTION SYSTEM IN SAID CITY. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman Malone this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1687. Carried by the following vote of the Councilr Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Uwens. Noes: None. Absent: None. AIVNZ 11 MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL MEETING. NOVEMBER 18, 1940. 7:30 Y. M. A communication signed by Bernard T. Haines requesting that in Paragraph B., Page 1 of the contract between the City of Azusa and the Contract Associated Assessment Engineers, "City Clerk" corrected. be substituted for "City Treasurer" and in Paragraph C. Page 2, "City Clerk" be substi- tuted for "City Treasurer". Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Coun- oilman Malone the above mentioned changes in the contract between the City of Azusa and the Associated Assessment Engineers be made. Mr. Haines appeared before the Council re- Council approved lative to his letter dated November 15, 1940, settlement made requesting Council to approve settlement made by Mr. Haines. by him on four tax delinquent properties where delinquent 1915 Improvement Act Assessments appear. ' Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Coun- cilman Malone it be resolved that settlement of four cases of delinquent Street Assessment be approved as recommended in Mr. Hainest letter and the proper City Officials directed to carry the same into effect. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. A request made by John- Mora to open a liquor Mr. Mora's reques store on the corner of 2nd Street and Soldeno referred to Chief Avenue, was read. of Police. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Jumper this matter be referred to the Chief of Police to report back at the next regular meeting of the Council. Hardware The matter of re -decorating the Chamber of Commerce offices was discussed. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Jumper this matter be referred to the Chairman of the Board of Public Works, with power to act.
