The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the -above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper,
Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, City Attorney Miller
and City Clerk.
Absent: Councilman Arnold.
Each member,present having acknowledged receipt
of a written copy of the minutes of the regular
meeting of November 18th, the Mayor asked if there
were any objections or corrections to said minutes.
There being none, the minutes of the regular meet-
ing of November 18th, 1940 were unanimously approv-
ed as written.

Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw it be resolved the Mayor be authori-
zed and instructed to sign an application for the
purchase of Tax Deeded parcels under the pro-
visions of Sec. 3897d of the Political Code of the
State of California and the City Clerk authorized
to attest same.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw,
Owens.

Absent: Councilman Arnold.
A communication from John Bean Manufacturing
Company, relative to the repair of the renovator,
was read.
Moved and carried this matter be referred to
Street Superintendent Arthur Wolfe.
A request for installation of an electric range
at 403 Alamsda Avenue for a NYA Project, was read.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw this matter be referred to the Board
of Public Works, with power to act.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw,
Owens.
Noes: None.
Absent; Councilman Arnold.
A communication from the Moritz Foundry was read
and ordered placed on file.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Malone the Mayor be authorized and instructed
to sign the contract between the City of Azusa
and Peet Radio Electric Shop.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw,
Owens.
Noes: None.
Absent: Councilman Arnold.
Councilman Jumper offered an Ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
SCHEDULE P-1 OF SECTION 1 OF ORDINANCE NUMBER
328 OF SAID CITY OF AZUSA, RELATING TO RATES TO
BE CHARGED FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE.
to be placed upon its first reading.
This Ordinance was then read for the first time.

his seat at the Council table.

Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council-
man Malone the City Clerk be authorized and
instructed to advertise for Bids on a dump truck.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw,
Arnold, Owens.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Dr. Samuel Grienstein appeared before the Council
requesting permission to erect and conduct a
' Rest Rome within the City Limits.
Mayor Owens appointed a committee consisting of
Councilmen Bradshaw and Arnold, Cornelius Smith
and J. 0. Durrell to act with himself in this
matter and to report back at the next regular
meeting of the Council.
Virgil Smith, Superintendent of Light and Water
Departments, appeared before Council and report-
ed on the three wells owned and operated by the
City, stating that due to the fact that #2 well
has not been in use for two years and the #1
well had a cave-in, in his opinion the only
remaining well is not sufficient to produce an
adequate supply of water for all City purposes
and there is immediate danger of an epidemic
or fire loss.
In view of the above mentioned facts, it was
moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Coun-
cilman Jumper that Byron Jackson Pump Company
be instructed to repair,No. 1 pump and install
a new ball assembly..

Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw the Mayor be authorized and instruct-
ed to sign a Rental Agreement, on behalf of the
City of Azusa, with the Crook Company for a
WK Allis-Chalmers tractor, said purchase price
being $3365.50 with the option of applying the
monthly rental payments of $280.05.

Arnold, Owens.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Mr. Putnam appeared before Council requesting
permission to have printed leaflets or cards, to
be distributed at the Los Angeles Chamber of
Commerce exhibit of precious stones, advertising
the City of Azusa's collection which Mr. Putnam
considers the finest collection of polished
stone in the State.
Mr. Putnam also suggested the Council interset
' the palm trees on West Foothill Boulevard with
Tacoma Compensia.
Mayor Owens advised Mr. Putnam that the Council
had something in mind toward beautifying Foot-
hill Boulevard and thanked him for his suggest-
ions, he also told him that the Council would
check with Cornelius Smith on the advisability
of advertising the stone collection.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw the following requisitions be
allowed: 1000, 1018 to 1028, 1051 to 1058.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Arnold, Owens.
