CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA. FEBRUARY 3, 1941. 7:30 P. M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Roll call.
Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Uwens, City Attorney
Miller and City Clerk.
Each member present having acknowledged receipt
of a written copy of the minutes of the last
regular meeting of January 20, 1941, the Mayor
asked if there were any objections or corrections Minutes approved.

The City Clerk announced that she had received 2
Bids in answer to Notice calling for sealed Bids 2 Bids on Gasoline
on one year's supply of gasoline.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-
man Jumper and duly carried the Bids be now
opened, examined and publicly declared.

man Malone that Arthur Wolfe be appointed Super-
intendent of Sewers and placed under a one thou-
sand dollar bond; the City Clerk to be authorized
to instruct Mr. Muehe to write the Bond.

Arnold, Owens.

Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Coun-
cilman Arnold the Mayor and City Clerk be authori-
zed and instructed to sign an Agreement between
the City of Azusa and Anthony M. Ortuno and
Teresa Ortuno, on condition that the owner or
owners pay $20.00 for each sewer connection to
be made, the money to be deposited with the
Superintendent of Sewers, which sum shall be
retained by him in a Special Fund in the name of
the City of Azusa, to be refunded to the property
owner in the event they build on the vacant lots
and run the necessary connections to the main
lateral by January 1942, otherwise this sum must
be retained and deposited to the General Fund.

Corps of Engineers, Executive Assistant, United
States Engineer Office, relative to the Santa Fe
Flood Control Basin, was read.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-
man Jumper this matter be referred to the City
Engineer to report back.

Arnold, Owens.

cilman Bradshaw the matter of Mexican dances held on
Saturday night be referred to the Chief of Police,
with power to act.

Councilman Jumper offered an Urdinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, REQUIRING
A PERMIT FOR THE MAKING OF EXCAVATIONS OR REMOVAL
OF SOIL, DECLARING A NUISANCE IN CERTAIN IN-
STANCES, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTY.
to be placed upon its second reading.
The title of this Ordinance was then read.

man Bradshaw this Ordinance be adopted as written
and numbered Ordinance No. 356.

Mr. Manuel A. Torres appeared before the Council
and requested permission to operate a pool room
and soft drink parlor at 301 Dalton Avenue.
Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council-
man Malone that Mr. Torres' request be granted
and the City Clerk instructed to issue the busi-
ness license.
Carried by the following vote of the Councils
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw,
Arnold, Owens.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Mr. Frank Smith appeared before Council and
stated the Santa Fe Railway Company are construct-
ing a track within four feet of his property on
Monte Vista Avenue.
City Attorney Miller advised Mr. Smith to take
the matter up with the Railway Company.
Councilman Arnold offered an Ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
' AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, REPEALING
ORDINANCE NO. 330 ADOPTED BY SAID CITY ON THE
20TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1937.
to be placed upon its second reading.
This Ordinance was then read.

man Bradshaw that this Ordinance be adopted as
read and numbered Ordinance No. 357.

Councilman Bradshaw offered an Ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, PROHIBIT-
ING THE COERCION OR INTIMIDATION OF PERSONS IN
THE STREETS, SIDEWALKS OR PUBLIC WAYS IN THE CITY
OF AZUSA AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION
THEREOF.
