The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper,
Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, City Attorney Miller
and City Clerk.
Absent: Mayor Owens.
Each member present having acknowledged receipt
of a written copy of the minutes of the regular
meeting of February 17, 1941, the Mayor Pro tem
asked if there were any objections or corrections
to said minutes. There being none, the minutes
of the regular meeting of February 17, 1941
were unanimously approved as written.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-
man Arnold that Councilman Jumper be appointed
Mayor Pro tem in the absence of Mayor Owens.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold.
Noes: None.
Absent: Mayor Owens.
Councilman Jumper not voting.
A communication signed by Mrs. Edith Demmitt,
Chairman Christian Science War Relief Committee,
was read and ordered placed on file.

7:30 P. M.
A communication signed by C. G. Gillispie, Chief
of State Bureau of Sanitary Engineering, was read.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw this matter be referred to the City
Engineer and City Attorney to report back at
the next regular meeting of the Council.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold,
Jumper,
Noes: None.
Absent: Mayor Owens.
A communication from the City Planning Commission
relative to a meeting to be held in Pomona, was
read.
It was unanimously agreed that the Secretary of
the Chamber of Commerce be requested to attend
this meeting.
A communication relative to the Mayor's and_
Councilmen's Department Conference to be held
in Fresno on March 7.and 8th, was read.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Coun-
cilman Malone that Councilman Jumper be appoint-
ed to represent the City at this convention,
with all expenses paid.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold,
Noes: None. Absent: Mayor Uwens.
Councilman Jumper not voting.
The Richfield Oil Corporation and the Valley
Distributing Company offered Bids on the City's
gasoline requirements.
It was unanimously agreed that same be placed
on file.
City Engineer Kressly's report on the Santa Fe
Flood Control Basin, was read.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Coun-
cilman Arnold the City Clerk be instructed to
write L. Rosenberg, and advise him that in the
judgment of the City Engineer that portion of
Broadway Road to be abandoned is not within the
City Limits but in County territory as the
Roll call.

Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Coun-
cilman Malone the Mayor Pro tem and City Clerk
be authorized to sign an agreement between the
' City of Azusa and the Chamber of Commerce.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Jumper.

ING AN EASEMENT FROM EMILIO OCHOA AND AUTHORIZ- 1702 adopted.

Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Coun-
cilman Arnold this Resolution be adopted as
read and numbered Resolution No. 1702.

Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC NECESSITY AND
' CONVENIENCE REgUIRE THAT FOURTH STREET AND FIRST
STREET, WITHIN SAID CITY BE IMPROVED FROM FUNDS
ALLOCATED BY LOS ANGELES COUNTY OUT OF ITS SHARE
OF MONEYS COLLECTED FROM THE LEVY OF TAXES ON
MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL AND DISTRIBUTED TO SAID COUNTY
BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR THE 1940-1941
FISCAL YEAR.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Council-
man Arnold this Resolution be adopted as read
and numbered Resolution No. 1703.

Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPOINT-
ING ARTHUR WOLFE SUPERINTENDENT OF SEWERS OF THE
CITY OF AZUSA AND FIXING HIS SALARY.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by
Councilman Malone this Resolution be adopted
as read and numbered Resolution No. 1704.

Mr. Cornelius Smith addressed the Council relative
to the Mexican Youth Movement in Azusa.
Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw the plans for opening the Sewage
Disposal Plant be referred to Councilman Jumper,
with power to act.
Carried by the following vote of the Counci+:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold
Jumper.

The matter of enforcing City Ordinance #268
relative to incinerators was referred to Fire
Chief Rogers and Chief of Police Williams.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Coun-
cilman Malone the Superintendent of the Light
Department be authorized to sign an agreement
between the City of Azusa and the Electric Pro-
ducts Corporation for the care of Neon Signs
for a period of 3 years, reserving the right
of cancellation.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold,
Jumper.
Noes: None.
Absent: Mayor Owens.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by
Councilman Arnold the following requisitions
be allowed: 1109 - 1118, 1159 - 1161.
