Mr. Dalton, President of the local Chamber of Mr. Dalton Commerce, appeared before Council requesting the addressed Council. City of Azusa insert an Add in the Monrovia Post, advertising the Azusa Rancho, during the Duarte Centennial. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Arnold the City contribute $25.UU toward an Add in the Monrovia Post. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnola, Uwens. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication signed by Harry B. Miller, Executive Secretary for State Board of Forestry, recommending support of Fire Prevention Project sponsored by fire fighting and defense organi- zations of California, was read. Moved and carried that same be placed on file. ' Communicationefrom Senator Robert W. Kenny and Assemblyman Lee T. Bashore were read and ordered placed on file. A communication signed by Manuel Toledo, Manager of the Mexican Baseball Club, requesting Council to erect bleachers and improve the baseball dia- mond, was read. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Coun- cilman Jumper this matter be referred to the Board of Public Works, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Uwens. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication signed by Cornelius Smith, Secretary of the Azusa Planning Cormnission recommending that Council approve Mr. White's application for a permit to erect a brick grill on his property just South of Foothill Boulevard, was read. ' Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Jumper the recommendation of the Planning Commission be accepted and the Building Inspect- or instructed to issue a permit to Mr. White. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, vwens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Zatinsky made application to erect an 8 foot fence in connection with his salesroom on West Foothill Boulevard. It was unanimously agreed the Building Inspector issue this permit with conditions as set forth by the Planning Commission. Council authorizes expenditure of twenty five dollar Communication ordered placed on file. Communications ordered placed on file. Request for im- provement of Base ball diamond re- ferred to Board of Public Works. Mr. White grants( permission to erect grill. Mr. Zatinsky granted permissi to erect fence. The City Council of the City of Azusa met ins regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Uwens, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Each member present having acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of April 21, 19410 the Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of the regular meeting of April 219 1941 were unani- mously approved as written. Roll call. Minutes approved. Councilman Bradshaw offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTIUN OF THS CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RESOLUTION NO. AZUSA, IAS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, TRANSFER- 1714 adopted. RING THE SUM OF TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($10,000.) FROM VARIOUS FUNDS TO THE SEWER CONSTRUCTION FUND #2. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Malone this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolutioh No. 1714. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, ' Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication from the City Engineer of Long Public Parkway Beach relative to the Public Parkway Project, referred to City was offered and referred to City Engineer Kressly Engineer. for analysis and report. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Malone the matter of payment of a statement rendered by the Associated Assessment Engineers be referred to the Mayor and City Attorney, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, uwens. Noes: None. Absent: None. No one responded. there were any present who on the matter of cleaning Councilmen Jumper offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DESIGNAT- ING THE NAME BY WHICH A CERTAIN PUBLIC STREET SHALL BE KNOWN AND CALLED, WITHIN SAID CITY. to be placed upon its first reading. This Urdinance was then read for the first time. Moved and carried the matter of landscaping the slope of the fill now being erected by the Santa Fe Railway Company at the intersection of Foot- hill Boulevard and the Railroad tracks, be re- ferred to City engineer Kressly. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- men Malone the following requisitions be allow- ed: 1147 - 1150, 1187 - 1190. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, uwens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Coun- cilman Malone the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
