The City Council of the City of 'Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Roll call. Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Arnold. Each member present having acknowledged receipt Minutes approved. of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of August 4, 1941, the Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said ' minutes. Mr. Downing requested a two weeks vacation Mr. D owning beginning September 17th. granted 2 weeks ' vacation. FERRING THE SUM OF FIVE THOUS.A_ND DOLLARS (5000.) FROM VARIOUS FUNDS TO THE SEWER CONSTRUCTION FUND #2. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1727. AUGUST 18, 1941. 7:30 P. M. Mr. J. F. Hemstreet addressed the Council re- lative to the erection of a wall to control flood Mr. Hemstreet water on the west side of Azusa Avenue near his addressed Council property. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw this matter be referred to the Board of Public Works, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council:, Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens. ' Noes ; None. Absent: Councilman Arnold. Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RESOLUTION NO. AZUSA AUTHORIZING ITS FIRE STATION AS A MOBILI- 1727 adopted. ZATION POINT FOR EMERGENCY FIRE CREWS AND AUTHORI- ZING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ASSIST IN MAINTAIN- ING COMMUNICATION LINES IN TIMES OF FOREST FIRE EMERGENCY. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by"Council- man Bradshaw this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1728. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Arnold. Councilman Arnold entered and took his seat at the Council table. Councilman Malone reported that the Azusa Citrus Councilman Packing House had made a change in the management Malone reported and the withdrawal period agreed upon by the a change in Board of Directors is August 15th to September management for ' 15, 1941, in case the City wished to take Azusa Citrus Co. action in the matter. No further action. Councilman Bradshaw reported that he had -received complaints on Mexican boys loitering in front of Clark's Pool Hall. This matter was referred to the Chief of Police. Mr. Becker appeared before Council suggesting that pictures be made of the Disposal Plant to acquaint the public with the location, also that a sign be erected on the gate, also that trees be planted to eliminate dust which blows toward the plant from the Rock Crusher on the southwest. Virgil Smith, Superintendent of W ater and Light, addressed the Council relative to the purchase of Capacitors. Dr. Sandoval addressed the Council relative to the Mexican Celebration to be held September 15th and 16th. ' Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Coun- cilman Bradshaw the following requisitions be allowed: 1227-1228, 1285-1289. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Coun- cilman Bradshaw the following bills be allowed and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None.
