The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper,
Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, City Attorney Tscharner
and City Clerk.
Absent: Councilman Arnold.
Each member present having acknowledged receipt
of a written copy of the minutes of the regular
meeting of August 18th and the adjourned session
of August 20, 1941, the Mayor asked if there
were any omissions -or corrections to said minutes.
There being none, the minutes of the regular
meeting of August 18th and the adjourned session
of August 20, 1941 were unanimously approved as
written.
A communication from Wayne Allen, Chief Admini-
strative Officer, Los Angeles County Board of
Supervisors, relative to the employment of
women as crossing guards, was read.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Coun-
cilman Malone this matter be referred to the
Chief of Police and Superintendent of Schools,
to report back.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Arnold.
A communication signed by Cassatt D. Griffin
relative to the contract between the City of
Azusa and the Los Angeles County Building and
Safety Department, was read.
Moved and carried that same be placed on file.
A note of appreciation from Mr. Philleo, Presi-
dent of the First National Bank, was read and
ordered placed on file.
A notice, from the State Board of Equalization,
advising Council the request of Matilde & J.
Guadalupe Mendoza for a liquor license had been
denied, was read and ordered placed on file.
A communication from Alfred J. Jones, Secretary
Delinquent Tax Lands Committee, relative to the
procedure recently established by the Los Angeles
County Board of Supervisors applying to tax
deeded property, was read and ordered placed on
file.
An application for a hawkers permit, offered by
Walter B. Johnson, was read.

Moved and carried that Mr. Johnson be required to furnish all
papers necessary under Ordinance No. 326 and to
submit a permit issued by Mr. Noid of the Los Application for
Angeles County Health Department before this hawkers permit
request be granted. referred to Chief

Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Arnold.
Mr. Smith, Secretary of the Chamber of Commerce,
submitted a report on the Chambers activities.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Coun-
cilman Jumper this report be placed on file and
the City Clerk instructed to write Mr. Smith
commending him upon the splendid work accomplished
by the local Chamber.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Arnold.

MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL MEETING. SEPTEMBER 2, 1941. 7:30 P. M.
Mr. Shaffer reported on a broken incinerator.
It was agreed this matter be referred to the
Street Superintendent.
Councilman Jumper offered an Ordinance entitled:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA REGULATING THE
DISTRIBUTION OF HANDBILLS AND PROVIDING THE PEN-
ALTY FOR VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE AND REPEAL-
ING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH.
' to be placed upon its second reading..
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council—
man Bradshaw Council waive further reading of
this Ordinance.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw,Owens.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Arnold.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Coun-
cilman Jumper this Ordinance be adopted as written
and numbered Ordinance No. 362.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw,Owens.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Arnold.
Councilman Arnold entered the meeting and took
his seat at the Council table.
Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled:
Councilman Jumper reported on the League meet-
ing held at Hermosa Beach.
Councilman Malone offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, DIRECTING
THE CITY CLERK TO NOTIFY THE AZUSA CITRUS ASSOCIA-
TION AS REQUIRED BY ITS BY-LAWS, THAT THE CITY
OF AZUSA WILL NO LONGER DELIVER ITS CITRUS FRUIT
TO SAID ASSOCIATION AND THAT THE AGREEMENT TO
THAT EFFECT IS HEREBY DECLARED TERMINATED.
Moved by Councilman Jumper,seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw this Resolution be adopted as
' read and numbered Resolution No. 1730.

Arnold, Owens.

man Malone the following requisitions be
allowed: 1229-1231, 1290-1296.

man Malone the following bills be allowed and
warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for same.
