DECEMBER 15, 1941. 7:30 P.M. 219 The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time aid place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens, City Attorney Miller and.City Clerk. Each member present having acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of December 1, 1941, the Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said ' minutes. There being none, the minutes of the regular meeting of December 1, 1941 were unani- mously approved as written. The minutes of the Special Session held December 9, 1941 were read. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Malone and duly carried the minutes of the Special meeting be approved as corrected. A petition with 61 names attached thereto, requestinthe Council not to repeal Ordinances #326 and h2g, was presented. Mr. Tyok and Mr. Richter addressed the Council outlining the benefits that Azusa business men enjoy through the enactment of these Ordinances, and stated that most business men are not in favor of repeal. Mr. Dilley addressed the Council stating that 75 per cent of the business men do not approve of.the business license Ordinance; they feel the section requiring a $400 Bond is responsible ' for the empty store buildings. Mr. Abdelnour addressed the Council requesting the business license Ordinance remain in full force. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw the present Ordinances #326 and #329 remain in force until such time as a more clarified opposition can be presented. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mrs. Rush's request to sell dog tags was read. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Jumper this matter be referred to the Chief of Police, with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. A communication signed by Le Roy M. Edwards, Vice President and General Counsel for Southern Counties Gas Company.of California, requesting the City to release,them from the obligation under the present Ordinance of maintaining red lanterns at night around itsstreetexcavations, when ordered so to do by any commanding officer of the United States, State, County or Municipal subdivision. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Malone this matter be referred to the City Attorney to report back. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Roll call. Minutes approved. Petition on Business license ordinance. Mrs. Rushts request referred to Chief of Polio Southern Counties Gas Company re- quest referred to City Attorney. 220 1 221 MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL MEETING. DECEMBER 150 1941. 7:30 P.M. A communication signed -by Charles S. Bradley, Project Engineer for the Santa -Fe Dam, relative Engineer for Sant: to the extension of McKinley.Avenue to a point Fe Dam granted on the Government right-of-way line for the permission to Santa Fe Dam, was read. construct road. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw the Council grant permission to extend McKinley Avenue provided the. -proper right-of-way privilege has been granted by the owners of private property. ' Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Notices of the annual meeting -of Azusa Citrus Company and the Azusa Agricultural Water Company were read. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Jumper that Councilman Malone be authorized and instructed to represent the City. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. _Absent: None. A suggested model blackout Ordinance -was read and no further action taken. Mrs. Piper's application was read and ordered placed on file. A communication relative to Chief Williams' Bond was read and ordered placed on file. ' Councilman Bradshaw offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($7000) FROM VAR[OUS FUNDS TO THE SEWER CONSTRUCTION FUND #2. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Arnold this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1740. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. The matter of electric wires passing over the property owned by Harry V. Owens to service the property owned by -Mrs, McLeod, was discussed. Notice of annual meetings. Mrs. Piper's request placed on file. RESOLUTION NO. 1740 adopted. Wire across H. V. Owens property referred to Board of Public Works. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Jumper this matter be referred to the Board of Public Works. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, ' Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RESOLUTION NO. AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, APPOINT- 1741 adopted. ING JOHN R. SITTON AS FULLTIME FIREMAN AND FIXING HIS SALARY. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1741.
