Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Owens, City Attorney Miller and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Arnold. The following consent was signed and on file in the Clerk's office: ' Azusa, California April 3, 1942. We, the undersigned members of the Azusa City Council do hereby call a Special Meeting of said Council and do hereby consent to the holding of such Special Meeting, same to be held at 7:00 o+clock P.M. this day in the regular Council Chambers of said City and for the purpose of introducing and considering emergency ordinances on the following subjects: Control Center, Auxiliary Police, Auxiliary Fire, Air Raid Wardens. This Ordinance was then read for the first time. Councilman Jumper offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ESTABLISHING AN AUXILIARY POLICE FORCE AND PROVIDING FOR ITS USE AND CONTROL. to be placed on its first reading. This Ordinance was then read for the first time. Councilman Arnold entered the meeting and took his seat at the Council table. Councilman Malone offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA ESTABLISHING AN AUXILIARY :FIRE FORCE AND PROVIDING FOR ITS USE AND CONTROL. to be placed on its first reading. This Ordinance was then read for the first time. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens, City Attorney Roll call. Each member present having acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular Minutes approved. meeting of March 16, 1942, the Mayor asked if ' there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of the regular meeting of March 16, 1942 were unanimously approved as written. Edith Demmitt appeared before Council requesting an Ad for the Citrus Annual. APRIL 6, 1942. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw the recommendation of the Planning Commission be accepted and placed on file. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. A Notice of meeting of Protective Association placed on file. the San Gabriel Valley was read and ordered A letter from the Automobile Club of Southern California was offered and ordered placed on file. A letter from the Los Angeles County Tax Collector relative to the sale of certain tax delinquent property, was read. Moved and carried that same be placed on file. Moved by Councilman Jumper, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to instruct Mr. Muehe to add the Angle Dozer -to the City Fleet. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. A petition with 57 names attached thereto, requesting Council to authorize the construct- ion of sidewalks on 5th Street, was presented. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Jumper the matter be referred to the Board of Public Works and City Engineer to report back. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Jumper offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC NECESSITY AND CONVENIENCE REQUIRE THAT CERTAIN PORTIONS OF PARAMOUNT AVENUE, FOURTH STREET, SUNSET AVENUE, MONTE VISTA AVENUE, LOUISE AVENUE, LEMON AVENUE, AND ORANGE AVENUE WITHIN SAID CITY BE IMPROVED FROM FUNDS ALLOCATED BY LOS ANGELES COUNTY OUT OF ITS SHARE OF MONEYS COLLECTED FROM THE LEVY OF TAXES ON MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL AND DISTRIBUTED TO SAID COUNTY BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA FOR. THE 1941-1942 FISCAL YEAR. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Malone and duly carried this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1754. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Council- man Malone the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to advertise for Bids for material necessary for the construction of certain improvements. Moved by Councilmen Jumper, seconded by Council- man Arnold the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to re -advertise for bids on pre -mix. 273 7:30 P.M. Mayor Owens offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS OF THE AZUSA CIVILIAN DEFENSE COUNCIL. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Council- man Jumper this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1755. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Owens. Noes: None. Absent: None. 275 7:30 P.M. RESOLUTION NO. 1755 adopted. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Council- Council accepted man Malone, Council accept the Bid of Crook Bid on Angle Company on Angle Dozer and the City Clerk authori- Dozer. zed and instructed to return the check submitted with Bid.
