MONDAY, APRIL 200 1942 7:30 P.M. 283 The City Council of the City of Azusa met in. - regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Jumper, Malone, ROLL CALL Bradshaw, Arnold, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: Mayor Owens. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw, Councilman Jumper serve as Mayor pro tem in the absence of Mayor Owens. COUNCILMAN Carried by the following vote of the Council: JUMPER AP- Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold POIDTTED MAYO1 Noes: None Absent: Mayor Owens PRE TEM. Councilman Jumper not voting. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the Special Meeting of April 3, 1942, the regular meeting of April 6, 1942, and the adjourned meeting of MINUTES April 9, 1942. The Mayor pro tem asked if there APPROVED were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of the Special Meeting, the regular meeting and the adjourned meeting were unanimously approved as written. The Clerk announced that three bids had been received in answer to notice calling forbids for certain improvements upon portions of BIDS Pasadena Avenue, Paramount Avenue, Fourth Street, Sunset Avenue, Monte Vista Avenue, Louise Avenue, Lemon Avenue and Orange Avenue. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Council- man Malone the bids be opened, examined and publicly declared. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Jumper Noes- None Absents Mayor Owens A communication from Mr. Smith, Secretary of the Local Planning Commission, recommending Mr. Zatinsky be granted an extension of time to remove his wrecking yard from the present location was read. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Arnold, Council accept the recom- mendation of the Planning Commission. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilman Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Jumper Noes: None Absent: Mayor Owens Communications from the Automobile Club of 9o. California and the Commonwealth Club of Calif- ornia were read and ordered placed on file. It was unanimously agreed that Councilman Bradshaw contact the Civitan Club and enlist ' its support in the collection of papers, cans, etc., to be used in the manufacture of defense material. Councilman Malone reported on the painting of the Library, the sidewalks on Fifth Street and the repair of the monument. Moved by Councilman Arnold, seconded by Councilman Malone the matter of removing acid drainage from lots near Fire Hall be referred to the Chief of Police and the Health Inspector. ACID DRAINAGE RE- FERRED TO POLICE AND HEALTH DEPTS. 286 The Clerk announced that no bids had been received_ in answer to, notice calling for bids on premix. Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by,C,ouncilmAn Bradshaw that ' Councilman Jumper be appointed a Committee of one to investigate prices and, report back. MONDAY, APRIL 20, 1942 7:30 P.M. A letter of resignation signed by Cathryn RESIGNATION ORDERED Childers was read. PLACED ON FILE. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman Malone and duly carried, the resignation be accepted and the City Clerk instructed to write a letter of recommenda- tion for Mrs. Childers. Councilman Arnold offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA EMPLOYING ELIZABETH M. ANDER- SON AND FIXING HER SALARY Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw this Resolution be adopted as read and nimbered Resolution No.1756 Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Malone, Bradshaw, Arnold, Jumper Noes: None Absent: Mayor Owens Councilman Bradshaw offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA RESCINDING RESOLUTION #1743 Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Arnold this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No.1757.
