Due to lack of a quorum the regular meeting of the City
Council was adjourned to meet Monday, September 28, 1942 at
7:30 P.M.
CITY HALL, AZUSA, CALIFORNIA, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 1942. 7:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
adjourned session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Malone, Bradshaw, ROLL CALL
Morden, Jumper, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk.
Each member presents cknowledged receipt of a written copy
of the minutes of September 8, 1942. The Mayor asked if
there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. MINUTES
There being none, the minutes of the regular meeting of MINUTES
September 8, 1942, were unanimously approved as written.
Mr. Smith, representing Spence Turner, addressed the
Council relative to the matter of "Mutual Aid." He stated REPORT ON
that Cities adopting a reciprocal resolution could expect MUTUAL AID.
assistance from other cities in case of fire or other
disaster as the County and Cities are short of fire fight-
ing equipment and must cooperate in time of need.
A notice of application for transfer of liquor license TRANSFER OF
from Santos Market to Anthony Ortuno, was read and no LIQUOR
further action taken. LICENSE.
The matter of pay roll deductions was discussed. Moved by
Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman Morden the
City Employees meet with the Council on October 5th at 8_:30
P.M. to work out a plan of pay roll deductions. PAY ROLL
Carried by the following vote of the Council: DEDUCTIONS.
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Malone, Bradshaw, Morden, Jumper.
Noes: Nones. Absent: None.
' Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Owens,
the City Attorney be authorized and instructed to advise WFRNER &
Werner & Webb the Council wish the immediate return of the WEBB TO RET -
Bucyrus Erie Shovel upon completion of the present job. URN SHOVEL.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Malone, Bradshaw, Morden, Jumper.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
Councilman Malone reported that the Haddock Company had SIERRA
left Sierra Madre Avenue in very bad condition due to the MADRE AVE.
use of heavy trucks.
It was unanimously agreed Council refer this matter to the
City Attorney to contact the Haddock Company.
A complaint was offered relative to the condition of the
Santa Fe Railway crossing at Azusa Avenue. SANTA FE
Moved and carried this matter be referred to the City Attorney CROSSING.

Itwas unanimously agreed Council refer the matter of re- REPAIR FIRE
pairing the northwest corner of the Fire Hall to the Board HALL.
of Public Works, to report back.
Moved and carried Council refer the matter of purchase of a
'trailer to carry additional fire hose, to the Purchasing TRAILER FOR
Committee. FIRE HOSE.
Moved by Councilman Malone, seconded by Councilman Morden,
Patrolman Walter Lovelace be granted a two weeks leave of
absence without compensation. PATROLIā¢.IAN
