The City Council of the City.of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone, City Attorney and City Clerk. ROLL CALL Absent: Councilman: Jumper. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of October 19, 1942. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of the regular meeting of I.1INUTES October 19, 1942, were approved as written. APPROVED Mr. J. C. Muehe addressed Council relative to the insurance on the paintings donated to the Azusa Public Library by Mrs. A. J. Robinson. No action was taken in this matter. A letter signed by Cornelius Smith, relative to the Local Civilian Defense Councils' activities, was offered. Moved and carried that same be accepted and placed on file. A letter from Lee Parmelee relative to the 225 parcels of land within the City of Azusa registered under Torrens Title, was read. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens this matter be referred to the City Clerk to report back at the next regular meeting of Council. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Jumper. Moved and carried the matter of repairing the Santa Fe I Railway Company crossing at Azusa Avenue, be referred to the City Attorney to report back. A communication from the California State Council of Defense relative to a meeting in Los Angeles on mobilization of Citizens, was read. Moved and carried this matter be referred to Councilman Owens and Mr. Earl Philleo. A letter from Werner and Webb relative to the Bucyrus Erie Shovel was read and ordered placed on file. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens, the matter of investigation of representatives of "Je-hov ah+s Witnesses" be referred to the City Attorney and Chief of Police to report back. Councilman Owens offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF TAE CITY OF AZUSA RELATING TO RESTRICTED LIGHTING. be placed upon its first reading. This Ordinance was then read for the first time. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens, the City Clerk be instructed to write a letter to Cohn -Goldwater Mfg. Company advising them that it is wholly within the law for them to manufacture their wares in the building belonging to Mr. Abdelnour, located on Azusa Avenue in the City of Azusa. INVESTIGATION REFERRED TO CITY ATTCRNFY AND CHIEF OF POLICE. ORDINANCE READ FOR FIRST TIME, CITY CLRK INSTRUCTED TO WRITE LEITER. MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL HELD NOVEMBER 2, 1942. 3 89 Moved and carried the City Clerk be instructed to write a letter to Mr. Fred C. Becker, Chief Air Raid Warden, to the Chief of Police, Fred Williams and Fire Chief James Rogers, expressing Council's appreciation for the splendid work they are doinr, In maintaining the Auxiliary Police and Fire Depart- ments for the protection of lives and property in case of an air raid. Moved hnd carried the matter of contacting the State CONTACT STATE Highway Department relative to the old house located CONTACT STA ' on the south side of the Boulevard near the underpass HIGHWAY DE - and owned by the State Highway Department, be T. referred to the City Attorney to report back. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens, the following requisitions be allowed: # 1564-1565-1566-1567-1568-1569-1570. Carried by the following vote of the Council: REGUISITIONS Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman: Jumper. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens the following bills be allowed and::rarrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury for the same.
