The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Ownes, Bradshaw, .norden, Malone, City Attorney I:Iiller and City Clerk. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of November 16, 1942. The Mayor asked if there were any objection or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of the regular meeting of November ' 16, 1942 were approved as written. Mr. L. H. Branch presented an "Assignment of Garbage Contract" dated November 20,1942 together with a personal check in the amount of x,250. in lieu of the fond required of the Refuse Collector. He stated that he had ,purchased•_Urs. L. L. Russell's ranch and interest in the garbage collection and that he would agree to perform the duties and assume the resoonsibilities required in said agreement. ?,loved by Councilman Morden; seconded by Councilman Bradshaw this Agreement be accepted with the understanding that Mr. Branch supply a Cashiers Check to replace the personal check submitted. Carried by the following; vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Bradshaw, PrIorden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman_: Jumper. A Notice of Annual Pleeting of the Azusa Citrus Association was read. Moved and carried that same be placed on file. A letter from E. E. T.JcCarty, General Manager of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company ' relative to Azusa Avenue crossing was read. Moved and carried the letter be placed on file and the Clerk instructed to answer same, thanking Mr. McCarty for his cooperation. A letter, signed by Cornelious Smith, Secretary of the Azusa Planning Commission requesting Council to deny the ap7lication of S. Rosales to erect an addition to the present dwelling located at #307 Azusa•Avenue, was read. Noved by Councilman O%ens, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw this recommendation be accepted. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Bradshaw, Plorden, Malone. Noes: Mone. Absent: Councilman Jumper. Mrs Goalby requested the removal of two umbrella trees in the park way in front of her home at b614 Dalton Avenue. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw this matter be referred to the Board of Public Works with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Jumper. ' A request from PIr. Leo J. McCarthy, District Right of Way Agent, relative to the Agreement between the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company and the City of Azusa with reference to the concrete step easement to sidewalk in State Highway Viaduct, was read. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Morden, this matter be referred to the City Attorney for reply. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Bradshaw, Morden, 11alone. IToes: None. Absent: Councilman Jumper. The Clerk announced that she had received one sealed bid in answer to Notice Calling for Bids on purchase of used trucks. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens the bid be now opened, examined and publicly declared. Jumper filed his resignation as Councilman, stating that "in times like these when vie are confronted with condit=ions that involve our lives and home, it becomes incumbent upon all to make sacrifices." HARRY D. Moved by Councilman 11orden, seconded by Councilman J';IPER'5 Owens that Mr. Jumper's resignation be accepted. RESIGNATION.
