The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular
session at the above time and n.lace.
Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Bradshaw,
Morden, Malone, City Attonney Tscharner and City ROLL, CALL
Clerk. Absent: none.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a writ-
ten copy of the minutes of the regular neeting of
December 14th and the adjourned session of December
21, 1942. The Idayor asked if there were any objections

Councilman Morden remarked that he wished to compromise
on the man he had nominated to serve as councilman to
fill the vacancy caused by the resi.-nation of Council-
man Jumper, in favor of one wiio lives on the Boulevard,
a business man who would qualify to serve the City's

interests and nominated Dr. E. D. Cook to serve asa

caused by the resignation of Harry D. Jumper.

This nomination was seconded by Councilman Owens.
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Morden,

Councilman Bradshaw stated that, providing Mr.
Dickerson could withdraw iie would like to compromise
and nominate Walter Johnson to fill the vacancy caused
by the resignation of Councilman Jumper and urged Mr.

in his opinion if this matter should go tc a vote of
the peoole it would mean unnecessary expense, that he
was in favor of two more names being placed before the
Board and suggested that Council adjourn and hold an
executive session so that the matter could be dis-
cussed, and perhaps, reach a final conclusion.
Mayor Malone stated that the time established by law
to appoint a fifth member to Council would expire on
January 6th and that he was in favor of adjourning to

Councilman Owens stated that he wanted the matter
settled.
No further action taken in the matter at this time.
The City Clerk announced that she had received one
bid in answer to Notice callin.- for sealed bids on
the City's annual supply of gasoline,

Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman
Bradshaw, no further action be taken in this matter
until other bids have been received.
Carried by the following; vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Bradshaw, Norden, Malone.
Noes: None. Absent: None.
A letter from ?.Irs Sayre Iiacneil, Chairman of the
Azusa Branch of tl:e American Red Cross expressing
her anpreciation for the work done by the City in
the Annex Headquarters, was read and ordered placed
on file.
The matter of accepting Government Bonds in payment
of City taxes was discussed. It was unanimously
agreed that bonds would ndt be acceptable in pay-
ment of current or delinquent city tax.
Councilman Bradshaw introduced the natter of providing;
and training Relief lien for Full Time Duty at the
Fire Hall.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman
Morden that two men be trained for this work and the
salary paid to be ;}6.00 for a 24 hour shift or 50 cents
per hour for any portion of time under 12 !,ours.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:

Mr. L. H. Branch who has assumed all responsibility
for the collection of garbage in the City, appeared °'R. I u RRA':CII
before Council. He explained that he would submit APPEARED BEFORE

instruct his Insurance Carrier to file with the City
Clerk a copy of the insurance policy covering the
truck and the driver while picking un garbage in the
City of Azusa.
Moved by Counc`_lman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman
Owens, Council adjourn to hold an executive session FXEC17TIVE SESSION
for twenty minutes. '
At the end of this time the meeting was resumed.
