The City Council of the City of Azusa, met in regular session at+the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone, City Attorney ROLL CALL Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: None. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of March 15,.1943. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections MINUTE'S ' to said minutes. There being none, the min- APPROVED utes of March 15, 1943, were approved as written. A letter, signed by E. F. Hinds, relative to the conduct of children 12 to 14 years of age on the streets and in Slauson Memorial Park, COMMUNICATION was read. FROM E. F. HINDS Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by REFERRED TO Councilman Lamm, this matter be referred to CIT`_' ATTORNEY. City Attorney Tscharner to report back at the next regular meeting.of the Council. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. A letter signed by Carl G. Wopschall, was read LETTER READ A"D and ordered placed on file. ORDERED PLACED ON A petition signed by eight property owners FIIE. requesting Council to repair the alley north of 11th Street and between Azusa and San PETITION ON Gabriel Avenues, was offered. REPAIR OF ALLEY. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by ' Councilman Owens, this matter be referred to the Board of Public Works with power to act. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. A Hummell reeuested Council to pave West First Street, and the alley south of First REQUEST FOR and west of Azusa Avenue. ' It was unanimously agreed that Mr. C. A. Griffith represent the City at the annual meeting of MR. C. A. GRIFFITH the San Gabriel Valley Protective Association, TO REPRESENT CITY. to be held in Whittier on April 13, 1943. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Morden, the matter of writing an Ad to acquaint the consumers of the City of Azusa with Water Rates in comparison with Rates in other Cities, be referred to City Attorney Miller and Water Superintendent Smith. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Council- Councilman Bradshaw offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, EMPLOYING CHARLES F. DAVIS AS PATROLPNIN ON POLICE FORCE FOR TRE CITY OF AZUSA AND FIXING EIS SALARY OR COMPENSATION. Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Councilman Owens, this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered No. 1788. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by ' Councilman Owens, the City Clerk be author- ized and instructed to advertise for Bids on the sale of old copper and miscellaneous junk. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Bradshaw, the following req- uisitions be allowed: 1610-1611-1612-1613. CITY CLERK IN- STRUCTED TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS ON OLD COPPER REQUISITIONS ALLOWED. man Bradshaw, that a relief man shall be ap- pointed to relieve both Full Time Firemen Every Sunday, and said relief man to be paid $7.00 for each 24 hour shift, effective as of April 1, 1943. Davis made application for position as Patrolman in Police Department. Chief of Police Williams approved this application.
