Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, t+alone, City Attorney Tscharner, and City Clerk. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of May 17, 1943. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of May 179 1943, were approved as written. The City Clerk announced she had received two Bids in answer to Notice Calling for Bids on Pre -Mia. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman Owens, the Bids be now opened, examined, and publically declared. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, ''amm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. PACIFIC ROCK AND GRAVEL COMPANY 467 7:30 P.M. ROLL CALL MINUTES APPROVED BIDS ON PRE MIX We wish to submit the following prices for 1300 tons more or less of Plant Mixed Surfacing conforming to Section 28 of the Standard Specifications dated July 1940 of the State of California, Bepartment of Public Works, Division of Highways. To furnish all materials, mix, hawl and truck spread on streets of City of Azusa for $2.12 per ton. Cash discount of 20¢ per ton on Plant Mix allowed if account is paid in full the 15th day of the month following date of delivery of order or any portion thereof. Mayor Malone appointed the following Committee with authority tourchase a new car: i Councilmen Owens, orden, Lamm, and Light Superintendent V. D. Smith. A letter from the Royal Indemnity Company relative to a Bond for Cecil Hibsch, was read. Moved and carried this matter be referred to the City Attorney to report back. BIDS ON COUPE REJECTED. MAYOR APPOINTED COMMITTEE CECIL HIBSCH RE- FERRED TO CITY ATTORNEY. 7MAIV t MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD JUNE 72 1943. 7:30 P.M. A letter from the Secretary of the Local Planning Commission, relative to the remodeling of a dwelling at 428 San Gabriel Avenue, was read. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Morden, Council accept the recom- meddation of the Planning Commission. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, - Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. ' A communication from the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission relative to the Location of a Hog Ranch, was read. Moved and carried this matter be referred to the City Attorney to check and report back. The annual contract between the City of Azusa and Los Angeles County Health Department was read. Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Council- man Morden the Mayor and City Clerk be authorized and instructed to sign same. Carried Dy the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mr. Branch appeared before Council rela tive to the garbage collection. Moved by Council- man Lamm, seconded by Councilman Morden Mr. Branch be given $50.00 for garbage collection. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Morden, the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for Bids on the collection of garbage; the Bids to be opened June 21st. A communication from the State Compensation Insurance Fund relative to compensation for Gail Cleveland was read and ordered placed on file. A communication from the California State War Council wqs read and ordered placed on file. A letter from the Los Angeles Bureau of Research was read and ordered placed on file. Councilman Owens, offered a Resolution entitled: ' A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR EXPENDITURE OF 4 CENT GAS TAX ALLOCATED FOR STREETS OF MAJOR IMPORTANCE. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman Morden this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1795. Councilman Lamm offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL -OF THE CITY OF AZUSA APPROVING MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR EXPENDITURE OF 4 CENT GAS TAX ALLOCATED RESOLUTION NO.1796 FOR STATE HIGHWAYS. ADOPTED. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw, this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1796. ' Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, '4alone. Noes: None. Absent: None. An application for work in the Police Department was offered by J. A. Van Pelt. Moved and carried same be placed on file. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens, the City Council do hereby ratify that certain agreement between the City of Azusa and W. E. Kennedy, for rental of personal property, dated May 27, 1943. Carried by,the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent; None. Councilmen Morden offered an Ordinance entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE -CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA PROHIBITING VEHICLES TO BE TURNED SO AS TO PROCEED IN THE.OPPOSITE DIRECTION AT ' THE INTERSECTION OF AZUSA AVENUE AND FOOTIiILL BOULEVARD IN SAID CITY, AND PRESCRIBING PENALTY THEREOF. To be placed upon its first reading. This Ordinance was then read for the first time. Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled: APPLICATION FILED. CITY COUNCIL RATIFYED AGREEMENT. ORDINANCE READ FOR THE FIRST TIME. A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA GRANTING EXCEPTIONS OR VARIANCES UNDER SECTION 16 OF ORDINANCE NO. 342 OF RESOLUTION NO. THE CITY OF AZUSA. 1797 ADOPTED. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Councilman Lamm this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1797. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. City Attorney Tscharner reported that'Werner and Webb do not feel they should pay for the repair of the Shovel due to the fact that the REPORT BY CITY O.P. A. ruled the wear and tear on the Shovel ATTORNEY. ' is included in the r ental price. The Chief of Police was instructed by Council CHIEF OF POLICE to inforce the curfew Ordinance. INSTRUCTED TO RING CURFEW.
