The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular adjourned session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone, City Attorney Tscharner and City Clerk. Absent: None. Councilman Owens offered an Ordinance entitled: ' AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF AZUSA CREATING A DEPARTMENT OF CIVILIAN DEFENSE AND PROVIDING FOR THE ORGANIZATION, POWERS, AND DUTIES THEREOF. To be placed upon its second reading. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Council- man Lamm, Council waive the further reading of this Ordinance. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw, this Ordinance be adopted as read and numbered Ordinance No. 375. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman Owens, the statement submitted by ' Dr. Cook for services rendered in the amount of $21.00, be paid. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Mayor Malone appointed Victor A. Owens, Earl Philleo, Fred G. Becker, and Dr. W. G. Wheatley members of the War Council as provided in Ordinance No. 375. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman Lamm, Council approve the action of the Mayor. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Councilman Owens not voting. The City Council of the City of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilman: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone, City Attorney Tscharner, and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Owens. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular ' meeting of June 21, 1943. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to said minutes. There being none, the minutes of June 21, 1943, were approved as written. A card of thanks from Fred Williams and family was read and ordered placed on file. Mrs. Erma Smith requested use of the Auditorium for July 29th. Moved and carried this request be granted. A letter from the Los Angeles Brewing Company was read and ordered placed on file. Councilman Owens entered the meeting and took his seat at the Council table. An application for employment in the Police Department was offered by Albert F. Maxey. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Councilman Owens, this application be placed on file. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. Calvert offered his resignation effective as of July 15, 1943. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Lamm, Council accept Mr. Calvert's resig- nation . Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, TRANSFERRING THE SUM OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS (01000.00) FROM THE 1915 ACT DEFICIENCY FUND TO THE 1915 IMPROVEMENT ACT FUND. Moved by Councilman Owens, seconded by Council- man Lamm, this Resolution be adopted as read and numbered Resolution No. 1799. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Owens, Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: None. I. R.
