The City Council of thelCity of Azusa met in regular session at the above time and place. Present at roll call: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone, City Attorney Tscharner, ROLL CALL and City Clerk. Absent: Councilman Owens. J. R. Sitton addressed Council relative to the repair of the water tank on the fire engine. TANK FOR FIRE It was unanimously agreed Mr. Sitton secure TRUCK REFERRED TO approximate cost of repairs and report to CHAIRMAN OF Chairman of Public Works. PUBLIC WORKS. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Councilman Lamm, George B. Lambert be given a 60 day trial as patrolman in the Police GEORGE B. LAMBERT Department, at a salary of $160.00 per month, EMPLOYED AS effective date to be supplied by Chief of Police. PATROLMAN. Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, M& -den, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Owens. Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Council- man Bradshaw, the City pay the Police Matron CITY TO PAY at the rate of 80¢ per hour. POLICE MATRON ' Carried by the Following vote of the Council: 80¢ PER HOUR. Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Owens. Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, RATIFYING RESOLUTION NO. THE ACT OF THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK ON SIGNING CONTRACT WITH MIDLAND CONSTRUCTION COMPANY FOR 1803 ADOPTED. LEASE OF CITY SHOVEL. Each member present acknowledged receipt of a written copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of July 19, 1943. The Mayor asked if there were any objections or corrections to MINUTES ' said minutes. There being none, the minutes of July 19, 1943, were approved as written. APPROVED A letter from the Automobile Club of Southern California relative to the posting of street 66MMUNICATION signs was read and ordered placed on file. ORDERED PLACED ON FILE. Mr. W. B. Chenoweth, Mr. J. B. Jernigan, and Mr. George B. Lambert offered applications for employment in the Police Department. Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by APPLICATIONS Councilman Lamm, the applications be placed on READ AND ORDERED file, and this matter referred to the City Council PLACED ON FILE. as a committee of the whole. Carried'by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Owens. F. M. Robinson, City Auditor, offered the Budget for the year 1943-1944, and a financial report for the. fiscal year 1942-1943. AUDITORS REPORT Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Council- man Lamm, Council accept the Budget prepared BUDGET ACCEPTED. by Diehl and Edwards for the year July 1, 1943 to June 30, 1944. ' Carried by the following vote of the Council: Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden, Malone. Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Owens. J. R. It was unanimously agreed that the City Attorney prepare an agreement between the Atchison, CITY ATTORNEY TO ' Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company, and the PREPARE AN AGREE City of Azusa with reference to the stairs and MENT BETWEEN THE walk across the R/W of said Railway Company, CITY OF A ZUSA ANS just west of the underpass on Foothill Boulevard A.T.& S.F. R.R. in said City. I CO. Moved and carried, the City Attorney be, and is hereby authorized, to settle and adjust the CITY ATTORNEY matters involved in the action of Assets AUTHORIZED TO Reconstruction Corporation Ltd., vs the City ADJUST MATTERS of Azusa. INVOLVED IN Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by Council- ACTION OF ASSETS RECONSTRUCTION E man Lamm, the following requisitions be allowed: 1702-1704-1705-1706-1640-1641.
