The City Council of the City of Azusa met in
regular session at the above time and place.
Present at roll call: Councilmen:Lamm, Bradshaw, ROLL CALL
Morden, Malone, City Attorney Miller and City
Clerk. Absent: Councilman Owens.
Each member present acknowledged receipt of a
written copy of the minutes of the regular
meeting of September 7, 1943. The Mayor asked
if there were any objections or corrections to
said minutes. There being none, the minutes
of September 7, 1943, were approved as written.
A note of appreciation from Councilman bwens
was read and ordered placed on file. -
Mr. Bender of the Azusa Rock and Sand Company
requested the City purchase more War Bonds.
Moved by Councilman Morden, seconded by
Councilman Bradshaw, the City Clerk be
authorized and instructed to purchase seven
$1,000.00 War Savings Bonds, Series "F", at
a cost of $5180.00
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden,
Malone. Noes: None. Abient:Councilman Owens.
A petition for the improvement of the alley
south of Tenth Street between Orange and
Sunset avenues, was offered.
It was unanimously agreed this alley be im-
proved when material is available.
A letter from the State Compensation Insurance
Fune relative to the 4% increase in basic rate
' was read.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by
Councilman Lamm, the City Clerk be authorized
to sign the notice from the State Compensation
Fund, acknowledging the new basic rate
established by the 4% increase.
Carried by the following vote of,the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden,
Malone. Noes: None. Abs6nt: Councilman Owens.
Councilman Morden offered a Resolution entitled:
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
AZUSA, LOS ANGELES COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING
AN EASEMENT FROM VOSBURG BROTHERS, INCORPORATED,
DATED SEPTEMBER 16, 1943, AND AUTHORIZING SAME
TO BE RECORDED.
Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw, this Resolution be adopted as
read and numbered Resolution No. 1806.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden,
Malone. Noes: '_None. Absent: Councilman Owens.
A recommendation from the local planning
Commission relative to an application made by
Johnson Contracting Company, for a variance in
Zone # 1, was read.
It was unanimously agreed this matter be taken
up at a later date.
Moved by Councilman Bradshaw, seconded by Council-
man Morden, the City Clerk beauthorized to pay
$10.00 in dues to the Los Angeles County League
of California Cities.
Carried by the following vote of the Council:
Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden,
Malone. I
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Owens.

City Attorney Miller reported -the Pacific Electric
Railway Company had written the City Attorneys
relative to a renewal of an old lease for the RENEWAL OF
use of poles on Ninth Street, between Enid OLD LEASE
and Angeleno Avenues. REFERRED TO

next regular meeting of Council.
Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw, the following requisitions be
' allowed: 1649-1650-1750-1751. REQUISITIONS
Carried by the following vote of the Council: ALLOWED.
Ayes: Councilmen: Lamm, Bradshaw, Morden,
Malone.
Noes: None. Absent: Councilman Owens.
Moved by Councilman Lamm, seconded by Council-
man Bradshaw, the following Bills be allowed,
and warrants ordered drawn upon the Treasury BILLS
